Few things... YES, some people in the game do fly for score, some fly to win, some fly for the fight, and some fly for all 3.
My theory is is that you can accomplish all 3, have a great time in the game, AND get a great score/rank. People consider score hoing to include alot of unnecessary bombing of towns and strats, lots of vulching and picking, a few base takes here and there, etc. I had an idea this tour to see if i could score very well without losing my wish to help others and win fights and i have been doing this since approximately a week into april. As of this post my score is 38. YES i did do a few things to help raise my score but only when it was necessary to accomplish an objective in the fight for the war (aka i flew a couple of goon sorties cuz nobody volunteered and i knew i could do it etc) BUT i rarely if ever actually did anything like this.
and no i'm not trying to show off with this post because i know i do not need to show off. I know my limits in this game :aok this is purely a theoretical thought backed with information from a test i conducted.
What do you guys think about this?
I'm hoping to stop these annoying "he's a score ho" style discussions with this thread and i have a feeling im gonna get bashed now... "Alert! Brace for impact!!!" :uhoh

There are "score" guys playing, but I don't see a problem with it myself. The only time it bothers me is if I'm in on a fight I'm in till one of us is down. Score people don't do that, it hurts their score. As for my score, I get a few buff runs in every tour. One to keep in practice and two as something else to do. If I don't see any fights I'll cruise around in a buff. Same with GVs.
I think calling someone a score ho is about the same as calling someone a ho'er, ganger, picker and so on. It's not going to stop until they get rid of scores, and that ain't going to happen.

My first few months I thought that score was everything, I tried to get as many kills and as many points as I could and man, did I suck. After flying with a certain Squad that placed a premium on working together, I noticed I didnt care as much about gettin my rank up but in working together. This is where I realized that Score really doesnt mean a damn thing cuz some guys have High Ranks but worse overall stats due to more hours flown, etc. Since I started flying with the Squad/Country mentality my score has jumped considerably. I am with BAR that you can have funa and work as a team and still score high. The month of April my score was the Highest its ever been at 153 and it is due to helping and getting help from my squaddies/countrymen. I fly because as dumb as this may sound, it gives me that sense of comraderie that I havent felt since I was forced out of the Army on a Medical Discharge (Honorable). I have gotten to know a lot of great guys and Betty, lol, while playing AH and it is a trip to listen to some of the stuff we all talk about while Flyin/GVin. :salute To all players whether you like me or not!

I see it a bit differently, maybe because I'm 44 and old...lol. Its a community with a giant nerf football game being played every minute of everyday and some people like to score touchdowns and some play because they love the game. Some play because they want something to do and truly enjoy the friends they've made. Either way, we all show up to play on whatever team we can, when we can, and play like we want to....to win, laugh, get frustrated....to get better.
Enjoy the big game in our own private, grassy lot in the middle of our neighborhood...all the "neighbors" are different...love um or hate um...just like the real world. :cheers:
Honestly? This is the greatest fun I've had for the last 2 years in a very, very long time.

Once you realize that the scoring system is flawed you will not care who scores what.

I agree with you Bar. I play to have a good time with the squad and for rank as well. In my 2nd tour I got my score down to 67 but lost sight and finished out in the 120's. Being a student of all aspects of the game is one of my goals so you get no grief from me :D

If you want to play for score..by all means, Go for it.
If you want to grab land and win the war .Go for it

I think the point is missed completely here. The score hoing, vulching, picking, running, bla bla bla are actually fun for the people doing them. Whether they are doing it for score, to piss you off, or what ever the reason is, they are having fun. The whines happen because their fun interferes with what someone else considers fun.
For example, if the guy that plays for the fight meets the guy that plays for survival, there is no way in hell that both will end up having fun. So, no, the posts will never stop :lol
