There will be when soldiers no longer have a reason to open fire in any situation. Until then, don't make the same mistakes those "innocent people" did.
-
My point was that when a soldier can apologize for doing wrong and a widow can forgive him there is hope for us all in this conflict.

Not to say you're off base here but what wrong? When you're fighting an enemy that doesn't wear a uniform and has no rules of engagement...they kill their own people without regard...you have to put aside those ridiculous western ideals. I would have told that woman sorry it happened but...there is a very ugly war going on and unfortunately sometimes innocent people get hurt.

Would you say the same to the parents of the children killed in NY on 9/11 2001? The people of Baghdad live in Baghdad. It's not their fault it's a battlefield.

thats different. on 9/11, no one knew that there would be an attack, and it was too late to do anything for those poor souls at or above the impact zones. in Iraq, this war has been going on since 2003, and you dont think that the van didnt see a US Army helicopter watching them?

I agree, it is different. I see that now. However, I don't think the driver of the van saw the gunship. I've seen the video of the attack (earlier thread) and it took several seconds from the cannon fire stated till the impact of the rounds. Those gunships where hundreds of yards away, possibly even more than a mile away.

This is crap & screw those two ex-soldiers. These "apologies" are nothing more than a song & dance for their left-wing anti-war group's political benefit.
You want to apologize? Fine. Send a letter with a nice puppy on the front. You don't make it an international news topic, unless you are doing it for other reasons. And when the Iraqi wife was asked if there was anything they could do for her, what was the reply? Why, "send me your money!" of course. Screw them & screw her. They can all rot.
Must really hit a sore spot with you. What can you do about it, some people have gilt for what they did. I am not disagreeing with what you said, it just the way it is with some people. Case example, my grandfather hate everybody. He was never like that until after the war. He liberated one of the concentration camps in Germany and the unexpected sights he saw effected so much that he develop so much hate.
In this case for the solder, get develop so much gilt for what he did that his only way to overcome it buy apologizing to the mother. The mind is a powerful thing that can change your personality.

There is no hope for the human race..unless we all breed with the most intelligent women we can find.

I blame Sarah and Hagar. There is always a woman at the center of all evil deeds. Maybe not dead center but close enough a hand grenade would get her too. :D
