Fellas I came across this site and found some really cool scale fighter planes and other items that I thought were great. If anyone was looking for a flyable scale RC plane the prices look pretty cheap too. check it out!

While we're on the subject, my old man surprised me with a RC Cessna 182 last week. Its mainly polystyrene construction / electric motor so not the most expensive thing in the world, but I still don't exactly want to bust it (or anyone) up so any hints? I do have some real world flying experience.
In particular, how big an area do I need for this kind of thing?
Anyone got suggestions on good locations in the Orange County California area to give it a go?

Hey 68Wooley , I would look around and see if there is a club by you . That would be your best bet . Cheaper too ...

wooley what is its wingspan ? I will give you the two biggest mistakes I see from real pilots . Over control and losing orientation .

If you're not already aware of this place I think you will enjoy checking it out : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_index.asp (http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_index.asp)
Postage can be a little expensive but the stuff is so cheap - cheapest anywhere by far I suspect - that if you order a bunch of stuff at the same time you can make huge savings. I've been buying from them for a year or so with only occassional minor complaints. A small squadron of R/C aircraft and gear in my shed for the price of a couple of locally bought kits. Huge client base and their own forums so there's alot of info around on their stuff. I still support my local store so they stay open, handy for quick fix etc, but most of my hobby cash goes to HobbyKing.

Yeah , Hobbycity rock's ! and if you are going to get into FPV try RangeVideo.com

Thanks for the link . Been looking for a club . I have mine ready but would like to try it at a club field where I would have a back up on my FPV flight . Or at lest have someone with me that knows what he's doing ..
