For the Track IR enabled, would like to be able to reset the default center head position for each platform. Up/down, forward/back. This would be an improvement for the F4U-1A and up.

Now that's a good question!
Make it so!!! :rock

Good idea. It's a bit of a pain to move your head and hit the "TIR Re-center" key.

I believe what he means is, without TIR, you can move your head position in the x, y, and z axis to where you want it, and hit F10 to improve the front view's location in the cockpit. As an example, you might move your head up so you're looking through the top of the gunsight when you're looking forward, to get as much view below the pipper for pulling lead on a maneuvering enemy. With TIR on, the default position is the only place in the cockpit the TIR will 'center' to, so in this example, you have to scrunch your neck down, center TIR, then move your head up. If your tracking is set fairly sensitive, it's less than ideal because your head is now out of 'center' when you're sitting neutral, and it doesn't move the same as being centered.
I'd love to see this as well.

Yep, I get it. Having the default TIR centered in the middle of the seat is unrealistic. It should be moved back to simulate the pilot actually sitting in the seat.
LLogann, :aok you got it. ;)
-
Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I read the recentering as sarcasm. Damn text doesn't relay tone. This is a grand idea though.

That would make me actually use my TrackIR.
Right now, it is more of a hindrance than a help.
-
The problem in the F4U is the hooded armor plate thing. In track IR it is as if I am putting on a Motorcycle Helmet with a blacked out face shield.

I completely agree with the reasons behind this and the op's explanation of the problem. Good idea!

Double post, forum lag.

Triple post, forum lag.
I hate that.

Dude, clicky once and have patience... :D

Yeah, my browser crashed and I had to restart it two times. That parental controls program the gf put on there for her kid causes that kind of thing sometimes. Irritating as hell.

I will try get it on the to do list.

You guys are incredible. Whoever said HTC didn't have customer service? :D

OutFRIKKINstanding! It goes into production in what...2 weeks? :D

Superb ! I will be able to drive tanks and poke my head out the driver ports with TIR enabled!
and may be I might even fly the odd Blooooo plane.

I appreciate the hell out of that HiTech. Perhaps now I can start doing some more Corsair flying!
Thanks!!

could you add a tiny little line in the coad to help me with my new pedals? thanks :joystick: :airplane:.

I've got Track IR, never quite saw this problem... If views are a problem, move your head forward and then press the magic reset key for TrackIR, when you move your head back to your resting position, it will give you far better SA if thats what you're asking. Just a trick I use to pwn face :aok

I do that too, but when you have to do that for much of a distance you can start drifting further and further off center. And in some planes like the Corsair, that big plate overhead is still in you way when you look up or up and forward some. I end up having to lean forward or to the side to see around it. That's doable, but then in a fight, you're actively thinking about moving your head and body to keep sight, and not about flying and fighting. It's a definite distraction and that definitely affects your fighting.
This will be a nice and easy fix to help make it work better in general. I am of the opinion that this should take away the few remaining places where the hat views are better than I'm able to get with the TIR.
-
So what you're saying is the following: If I move my head to look back in any plane, it will automaticly look around the seat without me having to move my arse off the chair? If that's the case I'll most likely buy the new TR.
-
What's being said is this:
Your TIR head is in the center of a sphere. You can swivel your head left or right and remain in the center of the sphere. In some planes, the default centered head position is either too close or too far from the instrument panel for some people. If you move your head closer, then re-center TIR, the center of the sphere is closer to the front of your cockpit. When you move back to your normal (not leaning forward anymore) position, you are no longer in the center of the TIR sphere. When you swivel your head left or right, because you are no longer in the center of the sphere, the view doesn't rotate as it should.
-
cc that, thanks for clearing it up.
Would be good if HiTech could do the same for every position to make looking around the seat easier. Like I explained in my above post.
-
Kazaa, you're still going to have to move it sooner or later...

Exactly what im sayin :D And yes Kazza, You may have to move :) I wouldnt actually like it, I fly with my Track when I wanna get INTO IT! Jammin with The stones in the background, swinging my head all around :) SA isnt any better when you have no choice but to have it :x But I can understand whatcha sayin, I normally turn TIR off late at night when im lazy :aok SA IS KEY WITH THAT PUPPY! But overall, Not a horrible idea :noid

itt has it own gravitational pull :bolt:

I didn't see anything about this in the changelog. Did it happen in the update and wasn't mentioned or is this something that will still be coming later?
-
first disabled Track IR and centered view. Then use the head position commands from the key map and save new position with F10. Re-enable track ir and Viola it works!
Nice work Hitech. Also I <3 the new Mossie!
