Title: Bell of Meteor
Post by: ACE on May 07, 2010, 01:00:30 PM
I'm not trying to make this into a jet era game but, what about the Americas Bell or the British Meteor?

+1 for the Meteor. Not sure about the Bell though.

Shooting Star only had some prototypes during WWII.

YP-59 was never in combat, unless someone has an obscure reference they'd like to share. I'm not sure if any were even over sea's during the war.

An interesting story in the June 1945 edition of "Impact" has a 1 page write-up (with photo's) of 2 XP-80A's giving service demonstration flights in Italy. There's a nice photo of the two in formation flying past Mount Vesuvius. Too bad it wasn't in squadron strength and saw combat.

Two YP-80s made it to the UK and two to Italy, but they were not for combat, but to get combat pilot's feedback on them.  They were prototypes and no combat, so no joy.  The only Allied jet that might be added is the Meteor Mk III.
