I need a new phone and thinking of a smart phone. I only have Verizon for a carrier. I'm leaning toward the incredible but thought I would get some ideas from you alls. Any pros and cons of both would be appreciated. Will either of them be able to record streaming music from my desktop like from pandora or msn radio stations and play them back later via either headphones or an output jack to a car aux in. I currently I only have 1g service, not 3g. I realize this may be more phone than what I currently need but we do travel and get around, and we are "supposed" to get better service sometime this year.

I don't have experience between the two...I know the HTC one is very iphone like, and the droid is pretty durable. Also throw the Storm 2 into the mix...very good phone.
-
I have verizon also. I took the droid. Now if I can stop putting it in the washer.

I have been holding out for the Nexus One to be released to Verizon. I just checked out Google's website for the Nexus One and found this:
In the US, if you’ve been waiting for the Nexus One for Verizon Wireless’ network, head over to http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible to pre-order the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful new Android phone and a cousin of the Nexus One that is similarly feature-packed. It will be available in stores on April 29th.
To be honest I like the look of the HTC Droid Incredible over the Nexus One. Both phones will give you what you want as far as music. The Incredible has a 8mp camera as opposed to the Droid's 5.7, the Incredible also has a more powerful processor. For the same price I would go with the Incredible.
-
Incredible by a large margin. The only down side to it is that if you have large fingers it is sometimes hard to make selections so try it out before you buy it. Either way... Android.

3 colonels, and 2 cadet wing staff members have the droid. they're all on verizon. they all love them,.

Droid

Ive had problems with HTC in the past thats why I went with my Droid over it even though its newer.
So far I love my Droid, its fun going to www.fmylife.com when nothing is going on during the workday :D
-
A buddy of mine has the HTC Incredible, and it's awesome! But that's probably just because I've got a simple sliding phone with nothing fancy on it but I guess bubble breaker.
-
We also have Verizon, at our last contract re-negotiation we ended up with the "Palm" phones. It has a wireless node, that allows connection for up to five computers. Very useful on long trips.
Regards,
Kevin

I love my droid and can't say anything bad about it. I love the docking stations. It's my garmin, pda, phone, alarm clock and so much else.
Whatever phone you get, the android system is the way to go.

You people spend entirely too much time on the internet as it is.

I have the Boulder and I love it
In the year I've had it Ive managed to drop it while using it a couple times from 25' up on a ladder, Got it buried in the snow, Been completely saturated several times while pressure washing.
And it still works perfectly. A guy I know even used his a couple of times to bang in a few nail pops
The only downside to the boulder is its a flip style phone so there is no keyboard to text with. But I hate texting anyway and of the opinion that its a fad that cant pass soon enough. So thats no biggie to me.
If your into texting though and you live an active lifestyle and/or actually work for a living as opposed to polishing a desk chair. The Brigade is the phone to have.

the G’zOne line of phones can be frozen in a block of ice. submerged in water, Run over by a car and still work. both during and after.
although it didnt survive a drop from a 7 story building. but I think thats asking a bit much.

I have had the incredible for about a week now (pre-ordered it online and got it a day before release).
No regrets at all, very solid phone, and does everything I want.
The touch screen is easy to use (which was a worry for me), the screen is clear and bright and the camera awesome.
Navigation works well, no problems thus far.
I highly recommend it.
-
Im a ATT user but with my first HTC phone, I would never choose another phone brand besides HTC. Feel their phones are top notch in quality and the list of things they can do.
-
Incredible, it's great.

I've got the HTC Hero and love it (still waiting on 2.1 though). The Incredible is even better. You can't go wrong with the Droid. Crackberry has become fat and bloated. Google is the new king of the hill. Nearly 10k apps and counting. This OS is definitely a game changer. It's a communicator and a tricorder in one. Gene Roddenberry was extremely shortsighted.
-
If it's the same OS, it doesn't really matter. The Android OS is pretty awesome so far. We're even using it as the core of a paintball land warrior system.
-
I have a HTC Touch 2 Pro. Nothing but good things about it. I fell into a river with it in my pocket, and the thing still works.
-
I have a Motorola Droid with Verizon. The internet and toys are cool but the actual phone part is not so good. I tend to get terrible reception if I'm indoors. I had a razor prior to the Droid and I kinda wish I still had it and got a netbook or laptop with a 3G plugin instead.

Wow, this is pretty much exactly what I have and was thinking of switching to a droid device. I have a Motorola razor phone and a netbook with usb modem. The rate plan for using a modem is 59.99 a month. If I switch to a droid device the rate plan is 29.99 a month. And I understand I might be able to tether the laptop to the droid device also.
-
I have 2 cell modems and 3 smart phones. All of the phones can tether. If we had people that knew how to operate tethering without a babysitter, wouldn't need the cell modems.

I'm not sure if it is the phone or the service but it seems that over the years everytime I switch phones the reception gets worse. I'm in Chicago so its not like I'm in bumblefart Egypt without any cell sites.

I agree the RAZR is probably the best phone ever made. I loved mine and wish I still had it.

Well, I ended up getting the HTC Incredible over the Motorola Droid. First reason was that I live in a dusty/dirty area (I farm for a living) and heard complaints from people about getting dirt in the sliding keyboard and getting sticky. Incredible is all touch.
All of my kids like to text as it is convenient for them to send a quick note. This incredible (others do too) does voice to text and works very well. I hated typing out paragraphs on those phone number keypads. Now I can just say it and send it.
I've had it less than 24 hours now, and it is incredible on what it will do. It's probably gonna take me a week to figure out how to make a phone call on it :headscratch: but so far its pretty cool to mess with. For a phone, it has a pretty decent sound card in it. I have been streaming Pandora to it and it sounds pretty doggone good with headphones.
Now, I'm looking in the widget and app stores for the aces high mobile version......... :)

I have a droid unfortunately ! Go with the incredible. I am very unhappy with the droid. The battery life is horrible due to the tons of friveless APPS that swamp your phone. Then if you have a few apps you like you must remember to shut them down or they continue to run in the background giving you a battery life of a few hours. The backlight feature of the phone sucks. Then when you are talking to someone on it and your face barely touches the stupid screen guees what ....MUTE !!! The phone is some shiznit and well overated. Those apps run your phone into the ground. Let me know if you need a few more reasons why not to get a droid. I am all ready looking to trade in or upgrade this piece of crap ! Very user unfriendly phone !!
My droid is made by sprint and it / they all suck far as I'm concerned !!

The Incredible has less then average battery life . The incredible is a droid. just made by htc....
So are you redomending the the droid incredible or not its very had to tell from your post.

- This past quarter was the first time the android OS outsold the Iphone.
- Android supports Flash
- Android is cheaper than Apple
- AT&T has exclusive Iphone rights until 2012

I have the Droid Motorola Back flip....has a keyboard for texting.....a laptop like mouse on the back when flipped.
You can open the flip and the time displays just like an alarm clock...lit monitor. Can watch HD TV on it also.
Similar to iphone. It's a smartphone with many many applications. GPS, roadmaps, phone will tell you when to turn etc.
I have AT&T as my provider.

You need to download an app killer app. Don't knock the phone because you haven't taken the time to figure out how to use it. It is obvious that you haven't since you didn't even know that the Incredible IS a Droid. Droid is an OS. Many manufacturers have released phones running the Droid OS. What it comes down to is that perhaps it's a little too much phone for you. You probably should have stuck with your Razr.
-
Well those that have the Droid, how is the OS?
I am now in the debate between the Tilt 2 and waiting for ATT to come out with more droid phones as they only have the backflip by motorola but more otw according to ATT with 5 by the end of the summer. Dell has their phone with droid coming out within the month and HTC is rumored to have one at least.

Don't know AT&T.... If I were to get one today it would be the Incredible or the Evo. HTC has got it going on.

Im more or less curious how people feel about the Android OS now that they have owned it.

Wow , that could be my next phone
If your the outdoorsy type or prone to be in harsh environments. The Gzone line of phones is the way to go.
Day before yesterday it was pouring rain outside and I was power washing a house, deck and sidewalk.
End of the day I went home and took off my rain gear and noticed my phone was gone. One of those "oh no" moments.
Then, figuring there was only 3 places I'd been that day I went over to the gas station, where it wasnt, The convenience store, where it wasnt, then finally the house.
after circling the house a couple of times I spotted the phone and case submerged in a puddle on the side of the house I started on some 5 hours earlier. It probobly popped off my belt when I was wrestling with some over grown bushes.
Picked up the phone. soaked case and all (fabric "Husky" case picked up at Home Depot) didnt even check the phone. And went home and plopped it on my desk case and all, and forgot about it.
Kicked back and took a nap.
Several hours later my phone rings (my ringtone is the screeching sound from the shower scene in the movie Psycho. (long story) Trust me. it wakes you up.
Anyway. Phone works perfectly.
