Title: The Red Bull air races and Cuban Eight move angle rules?
Post by: Ex-jazz on May 11, 2010, 02:44:45 PM
Hi

I am curious, if there are any rules concerning the Cuban Eight move in Red Bull air-races.

Real deal

In given video, the pilot seems to roll a bit to get a better angle to the following air-gate. How much the pilot can oblique the turn?

Any hints?

Thanks

3 second penalty if the manuever is not flown correctly (angle or height)
3 second penalty if the gate is not flown in the correct style (horizontal for blue or vertical for red)
3 second penalty if the wrong wing is down at a vertical gate
Penalty increases to a 10 second penalty if a gate is touched

Thank you for your feedback.

Anyhow, I don't see a penalty rule for the Cuban Eight move. Maybe it's a visual judging for the 'correctly flying'.

What I'm up to:

Thats the Cuban 8 penalty if you miss the rollout angle or make adjustments before during or after.

A pilot can also be penalized for over-G on the maneuver. Love watching that show.   :salute
