I mentioned this idea a long time ago, but here it is again.
How about when you spawn from a hangar, it spawns you out to a random one at whatever base you are at. Obviously this would 99% apply to vehicles (at v-bases), and obviously it wouldn't put you in a hangar that is destroyed.
For example, V-Bases have three hangars.. we'll call them Main, Map, and Offset. If the base is full up, you would randomly be placed at any one of the three hangars. If say the offset hangar is destroyed, then you would randomly be placed at either the main or the map hangar. If only one hangar remained, you would spawn there.
This makes sense to me to help combat base camping and the false realism of spawning into a hangar that is on fire and burned to the ground.
The same could be applied to Bomber and Fighters as well, but obviously that wouldn't be used as often (except perhaps when a base is being vulched)...

It will make it harder for them GVs that park behind you in the VH from killing you. Not sure if Hitech can make this happen.

Heard this one before and still like it, I can't for the life of me remember the counter argument(was there one?).

The argument was "too hard to code.. too many changes required to make it happen.. blah blah blah". Since then we've had the graphics updated, shadows added, new damage models introduced (at least the WWI planes).. oh yeah don't forget WWI in general. Doesn't seem like it would be THAT difficult (relatively)... but even if it is, I hope hi-tech keeps it in mind for the next major 'redo'...

An even easier idea is to stop spawning when the hanger is camped.

:rofl Now to be fair to the OP, the idea might prevent some of the lame hangar camping and change some of the dynamics of vbases getting rolled...sometimes getting even 1 tank mobile at a vbase can stop the lame horde base rolling.

How long did it take to drive that tank behind the hanger?
How long was the base flashing before this?
How many "ALERT BASE X" warnings were ignored until someone decided to finally defend the base?
The bottom line is that whomever is camping took some time to get there.
It wasn't magic.
Scotty did not beam him there.
There was plenty of time to up before the camper showed up and found a good firing position........

You have never been the lone defender while 3 or 4 tank dweebs sneak in close...one of them inevitably camps the hangar and if there is no spawn point away from the base (which is the case in some instances)...fact is Von Messa, it happens and I've seen it happen at vbases with multiple defenders.

2 guys spawning at at camped hanger is all it takes to shorten the life of a camper.
Sure one guy will get killed, but the other can kill the camper in the time it takes the camper to reload.
Better than getting killed over and over again like a lemming.
How do they sneak in? They can be heard from the tower from a mile away or more.
I've seen warnings ignored many, many times.
Besides, what if the spawns into hangers were random and there happened to be someone camping the hanger one "randomly" spawns into?
What will the whine be then?

Von, there is more then just a LW that this would apply to. In MW we get many VH campers. I have signed in to see the numbers: 8/0/9 and still they camped the Knight VH. I go knight in that case to help and since the VH is camped and an M3/goon is inbound I don't have time to drive a GV/fly a plane all the way there. A random spawn would greatly help break any camp (assuming they don't kill the VHs). Even when there are more defenders it gets to the point we are too outnumbered to keep them from camping (happens a lot in MW) so again a random spawn would help.
If it's not too hard to coad I say yes. :)

I'm not saying that I'm opposed to the idea, but eventually, someone would figure out how to game it.
i.e. Killing 2 hangers ans camping the intact one.

+1 but Von is right. It will be gamed once figured out how it works. All you gotta do is look at the AH leader board to find some experts on these matters... :bolt:

You did not hear that from me.
But I doubt I will change it. There also are big down sides. If I were to change it, I would just make multiple spawn points at the field, and let you choose where to spawn instead of random.

No I didn't hear that from the horse's mouth.. it was speculation on the players' parts. But NOW I remember what happened with the original request. Somebody turned it into a "well don't spawn at the hangar while it is being camped" or a "don't let the camper get into position in the first place" flame rather than looking at it in a 'more realistic' point of view. Some people looked at the request as a whine.. you know "wah wah i keep getting camped so please make it so I can't get camped anymore", but that couldn't be further from the case.
It's a good thing that hasn't happened to this thread. . . . .

This would be a fantastic idea! Could you make it so you cant spawn into a hanger that is destroyed? Can you explain what down sides are?

HOWEVER...... I'm with Von here. I have camped a hanger during my life here, it's true. That's not even why I'm against it though. I'm preferable to the defensive side too. And Mr. Messa brings up several rather valid points. It takes that driver a while to get there, the bases starts flashing at least, what? Maybe 5 minutes before the hanger is camped... (Unless some some crazy hippie, tripping, is driving an M8 in there. But if that were the case it wouldn't really be much of a camp in the first place) ... "Base Under Attack" actually does mean just what it says. If you sit back and think about it for a moment, there is really no reason ever for a VB hanger to get camped.
