Think about it for a moment.......... Country, Room, Squad & Channel...... Those are my four, plus 200. (I pay 15 bucks a month for 200) :rofl
But if in a Mission, I'd really enjoy to have a Mission Text active. It currently resides with only newbs who haven't detuned it yet. But from a strategic standpoint it would make a big difference. ie.... Once mission starts, Country is no longer needed. (This is where somebody says "room" but many a time, a mission may be more complex than taking off from one base) Buffs and fighters for instance, or the goon in a capture mission... Maybe even 2 sets of fighters with a fuel disparity..... Oh and of course a combination gv & aircraft missions. Now the entire mission can read the same text without losing anything, or causing 30 extra lines per minute on Country. :eek:
When Trainers are in an arena, I would assume they have the Help Channel tuned. That means they would have to sacrifice one of their channels, probably Room Channel... But Room can be an important tool for comm. ei...... I took off 5 minutes ago and Ghosth is upping buffs now and wants to know if it's safe to start climbing and go afk for a few minutes. ANd the fine Gent that he is, he uses room so as he'll get to the people that know... And, the color is seen fast and responded to fast. Room that is. :salute
All seems to get a lot of play in the DA & WWI.... Maybe even AvA? And it seems that half the people use ALL and the other half still use 200..... I think that speaks for itself. :old:
And sure, another argument might be "Well I'm sure in a mission that is complex har har har, there is a member of the same squad in each group right? Maybe.... Maybe not. And I don't think there should be an emphasis on Squad when it comes to comms overall. Squads have a channel, cool, but why make it more difficult for 12 guys, not affiliated, to be able to comm in a semi-private manner? (not bothering the entire country per say) This is where somebody says.... "They'll do that anyway!" Some will, true, but others will learn. Fore we will make them! :rock
I don't know how difficult it would be to do, but I know we've got another similar keystroke to use for it. :aok
So what do you think, three cheers for a 6th Channel? :cheers:

+1 , id liake to keep the help channel tuned at all times but cant due to always have squad vox text, squad vox, all/200 , country, squad text tuned. would like to have an extra one.

I'd like to be able to set more channel colors. I like that Country, Squad, Room, etc. all have different colors, because you can tell at a glance which channel a message comes in on. However if you have multiple numbered channels tuned they ALL come in the same color. Sometimes in the middle of combat you may not have time to filter each message by the <Name> <Channel> ID in the buffer.

Exactly so!
Or better yet, put something in the gui.
4 channels (check here)
5 channels (check here)
6 channels (Check here)
7 channels (Check here)
Currently I use the heck out of 4 text radios, plus Vox, plus text on vox.
If I had 7 channels available, I wouldn't have to detune room/range to tune Help channel.
I have no problem swapping god speak in the TA with 200.
But I'd love to have one more channel free for when I'm fully loaded. And someone PM's me.
Much faster and easier for me to do a .radio 7 llogann than to have to .p llogann every line.
Mission channels, wingman channels, private channels all would be extremely handy.
Especially for FSO when your trying to keep your bunch together, plus interface/liaison with 3 other squadrons.
And, still be able to talk on range and country channels when needed.

You can do that now make
Radio 1= squad text
Radio2= country
Radio3= channel 200
Radio4= Range channel
Radio5= tuned vox channel (just hit the / key and the ] key (above enter to type on text of that channel instead of talking on it)

it still leaves out tuning to the Help Channel.

Del I do all those now, just wish I had the "option" for 1 or 2 more.

The ability to tune into more channels would be very helpful, especially when I'm in a mission and don't want to detune one of the other channels.

+1 This would do very nicely.

Ghosths idea is great I like to tune to the squeeker sqaud vox, spy vox, sqaud vox, 200, country, and range all at the same time but I cant.

What are you using for tuned vox channel and are you actually using the RED Squad channel for text?
I ask because if you use a tuned vox channel as "squad vox" you can also use the same tuned channel for text by pressing Shift + / and typing. The text comes over the tuned vox channel this way.
This frees up one more text channel, unless you are actually using the Squad Channel.

Squad Channel does something special though................ Orange is full with 3 squaddies in it. I get to Blue and find 7 of us. I can use Squad Channel to talk to ALL members of the squad regardless of what Arena they are in and tell them we have a bunch over in Blue . 9 times out of 10, that's what we use Squad Channel for.
This frees up one more text channel, unless you are actually using the Squad Channel.

some people may be on that vox that are not in squad yet or fly along just for fun...therefore you may want squad talks that arent including these tag alongs... +1

I would like two vox channels, one for squad vox/tuned vox channel the other for my wingman
-
Two squad voxes would be sweet...7 texts would be sweeter!
-
OH SNAP... In theory, the 2nd would be tuneable for things such as room or squad even! (Squad vs. Channel as 321BAR pointed out)

Just a thought but how many channels were ON at once in a typical WW2 fighter?
Didn't they need to re-tune to talk or hear a second channel?
If you were Russian, you were lucky to have that single channel.

One more would be cool. The only downside of adding another one is the small amount of time (relatively speaking) that it would take to do. Probably not that big a deal either way though. We already have 5. :cool:
-
True, but for the most part they were not leading from the front either.
No they'd be back at HQ where they had ???? radios? plus phone, radar, etc.
We don't have anyone sitting back at HQ telling us whats happening, coordinating things. Hence some of us want more channels so we can do it while flying.

How can you argue that...... :salute

A whole new level of comm discipline can evolve if we were to have an additional vox.....Wingman Channel.
my wingman
And make it so that if you don't have a GameID in there, it can be a tuneable text the same way Channel Comm works..... Or without saying all that, the same way Radio 5 works.
But I digress.......
I just want a 6th radio channel, very much similar for the reasons that the fine Gent from the Great White North, almost, would want it!
