It's probably clear I'm no genius here, but how can I tell when a city will fire on me before I get shot at? For example, the Knights took a bunch of bases last night and finally I decided to land somewhere safe which was deeeeeep into Knight terriroty and prior to landing at field overflew some city not marked on the map and got the one ping ack death. Is there an easy way to tell or do I now have to start flying around all these things?

Best way is to tell your wingman you think you see an enemy goon huggin the deck.....then wait and see if he goes boom :D

Oh! Is that why I never see any goons? Now I am on to my wingmen!
LOL

Strategic maps (with Cities, factories) are usualy released by players.
I haven't seen any for this version yet though.

Steven,
The strat targets that are not marked on the clipboard map cannot be captured and thus they dont change ownership. That means Factories, HQ, etc (actually HQ is marked on the map) :)
Only A, V and D bases can be captured. Those other targets always fire AA at you if AA is up.

Every city, factory, and stuff that looks like that outside your own borderlines (marked with white), just avoid them and suspeckt them to be full of ack who wanna 1 ping kill you :)
ahh blauk just said that lol

I see. Well, I was returning from a fight to land a kill in a 51B and went deep into territory with green bases (captures bases) to land because our bases on the perimeter were being attacked. I had the fuel and figured I should play it safe. Setting auto pilot I walked away to let my aircraft fly straight to a base. Walking back in and as I started getting my bearings again I hear a "bang"...one hit by lazer ack and I'm going down. Since these strat bases are not marked on the map, it makes it really difficult to let your guard down at all even in territory surrounded by green bases. Shame the game works this way. I guess it's easy bomber points if I want to attack such a strategic target deep inside green bases.

i think you were shot down by partisans operating behind enemy lines
