:headscratch: Aside from the larger wheelwells on the wings of the G14, are there any physical changes from the g6 to affect turn performance? Oddly, our climbrate and speed charts show the exact same weight for both

I was always under the impression that the g14 weighs more and has a slightly worse turn rate, you can see it on the turn rate graphs..I prefere the g14 as it has more umph when fighting in the vertical

IMO if you put a tator on the G14 its a waste cause a K4 seems better to me.

You get 25% more perk points for kills in a G14 instead of a K4 ;)
The K4 also may be faster, but the G14 has a tighter turn radius and even slightly more power in the vertical around 5k.. in some way it is a slightly better knife-fighter at low altitudes.

The G-14 WEP is all of a K-4 on MIL power, plus it is more stable. In most cases it is 6 one way and 6.1 another. :aok

I dont think the G14 is stable at all compared to the K4, I just like the extra perks.

all of the 109s are very close to similar except the E model. it just depends on the person flying it and the situation you are in that these very small differences will come in handy

I'm with Junky on this one, when it gets slow, the G14 feels sort of loose and squirrely to me, where the K4 is still pretty stable and handle-able. I snap stall and spin the G14 much more often.

Isnt the G2 the same perk price? Id just take that instead :aok

IMO the G14 was more stable than the K4 when mixing it up. Only slightly, but worth mention.

I fly the G14 more, and every time I take the fight vertical...I think bugger..I wish I was in my k4..I stopped flying the K4 when I started flying the dora again. And now I am not as accurate with the tater as I use to be.

I think its more fun to fight G14s in a P51D than it is any other of the 109s.

Really appreciate the charts fellas! Hadn't seen em yet. !S! Solution to the dilema of choosing btwn monster k4 w/taters or G14 with accuracy but less power...(Drumroll please)...
Bring back the G10 w/both options!!

:lol true. but if you notice i said very CLOSE to similar. all the 109s except the E have almost everything the same in speed climb and maneuvers with each earlier model being one step lower than the one before it (except the F)... THERE! happy bronk? :D

We arent comparing spits here, we are comparing 109s......Man Planes.
My feeling on them on
E4- extreme plane, turns too good making it retarded in the MA
F4- just breaching that gap, no go in climb since the top speed at the lower fights isnt great
g2- Handles like the K4 IMO, good all around high eny fighter
G6- has different stall characteristics then them all
G14- perk farmer with tator
K4- K stands for Kill

I have to disagree. The F4 may not be the best 109 climber... but it still outclimbs most of the LW planeset in a non-zoom situation. You can fight nose up a lot, you just have to be careful when facing Spits, Niks, Ki-84s

Which just happens to be what you're facing if you're a Knit in the LW arenas...but it's a lot of fun watching them twitch when you get on their 6.

IMHO IF the G14 turns or loses it's E vs a G6 it's in BIG trouble! G14 better keeps it's E.
Properly flow a G6 will stay right on the G14 due to the SLOW acceleration of the G14 and will out turn it by a tad and flies slightly better at stall speeds IIRC.
IMHO G6 used to be one of the poorest preforming 109. Always seemed to have a odd way of flying when I compared it to the G2 or F4 or G10. Seemed like it did everything a 109 could do but it did it POORLY. Can't really explain it any better then that.
Didn't turn well, or climb well, or have lots of speed, but better guns then previous versions. G14 is very close in performance to the G6 in many ways IMHO. And IMHO TOO many ways! Not even sure why we have a G14? But I rarely fly it, don't really like it, guess fause it ain't a G10. :lol
G2 is a tad faster then the G6?

1 on 1 the G6 or G14 will beat an equal pilot in a K4. The K4 is a spectacular furball or BnZ weapon but it suffers especially against a G6 in an angles fight. If I had to choose between the G14 or the G6 for MA use I would take the G14 for the 30mm and the speed, though the G6 would be better suited for low alt fighting vs the usual spits and niks. All the 109s are alot easier to fly than a spit mk14.

I have to agree that the G-14 is my pick for low alt furballs. The Tater gun is lethal and it is more nimble than the K-4. My favorite versions are the F-4, G-2 and G-14. Save the K-4 for Med-high alt fights.

Being under 8 s at 150-200, the G14 is one of the most powerful & quickest accelerating fighters at slow speed / low E in the game. I'm really wondering why you keep calling it "slow accelerating".

Yeah, I dunno why folks think the G14 is anything less capable than a K-4 in most fights. It really is a monster of a plane (in a good way).

Man, everyone is hating on my beloved G-6 in this thread. All else being equal, I'm more than happy to face most G-14's or K'4s in it. Course there are exceptions. :aok

I'm not hating Dru, the G6 is my favorite 109 to fly. I still think the G14 is a better aircraft for MA use in general.

Bah, if you consider rolling out a G6, go back to the hangar and get a G2. The only thing the G6 has is the 13mm guns instead of the pea shooters installed on the G2 as ballast stones. In performance, the G2 is better in every way. It also looks better without the G6 blisters.

I agree there, Bozon, except for 2 things (which are entirely subjective):
1) The G-6 has one of my all-time favorite 109G skins on it! I sometimes fly it just for that skin!
2) Those 13mm are decent. I can get an extra kill with 'em, and they actually do damage unlike the peashooters on the G-2. It's sometimes worth it just to make the difference between losing a kill or earning it.
Other than that you're quite right.

That said a 1 v 1 fight with equal pilots the G6 will win every time. The G6 is a ton more stable in a stall fight. You can push a G6 harder than you can a G2 without stalling.

I totaly agree with Sunsfan on that point. I would much rather be in a G6 than a G2, but then I tend to be a reckless stall fighter in 109 and like to really throw them around. The G2 is a great plane, I just prefer how the G6 handles.

The E4. I mean how much better can you get? Unless that is you want something that goes faster, climbs faster and higher, and has better gun package. But don't let the little things get you down. It sparkles in the turn fight and can get its nose around faster than most. I know some Spit XVI, Spit IX, P-47M, Tempest and TA-152 pilots that don't like it. :joystick: Oh and the perk points just make me giddy. :x

So far every time I've engaged a G14 while flying a G6 I get em turning and they can't get away, climb turn dive whatever they can't get away and they die.
UNLESS HTC tweeked the FM for the G14 recently there are times when it' seems like it can't get out of it's own way.
Admit I flew it last nite and found it SEEMS to preform better then it used to.
But tried gettin it to the reported top speed 408 MPH at 16.5 K and it NEVER reached that speed for me. Never even reached 400............ That was way back not too long after it was first put in AH.
Perhaps my throttle was porked? BUT the K4 and other planes did reachtheir reported tops speeds at the reported alt soooo?
Will fly it more and see if it's changed.

Nothing has been changed on the G-14 since introduction.
But the keyword is indeed seems. Unfortunately, one has to be a bit restrained when coming to conclusions purely from MA fighting. I could start to think a A-5 turns better than a Spit-16.
And a similar same goes for climb, acceleration & such. And the G-6 is still no "slow" accelerator, and 0.8 s advantage won't magically pull you away from your enemy. While he's trying to do that, you will simply shoot him down. But same would be true for a Spit 16 (7.3s 150-200).

That's exactly how I described it when I tried flying it against you in the DA some instead of my K4. It just felt a lot more sudden to depart than the K and sort of greasy as it got slow. I can see how that could be useful, but I didn't want to have to mess with the squirrleiness until I get better at some of the other stuff first.
Speaking of the DA, I need to get back in there with you and the rest of those guys, do you still do the 289/290 stuff in there in the evenings?
