Are there any P-47M that are still flying. I need pix of it, i think one flew over me today but what to make sure it was the M.
-
I am not sure, but I am looking to build/buy into one either way!!! Really!! :bolt:
I love the big jug!

How would you identify it in flight from a P-47D?
A quick search of the registration database shows no. 13 D's on the books and an N. Which are flying I don't have an idea.

The only thing that stood it out to be the M was the skin profile of 56 th FG. Red band on the nose and two shades of blue/

The plane in question is a N model can't access my pictures at present to show you.

I wouldn't put tremendous stock in the livery of an airplane to tell you what exactly the model is.
Unless it's a Lear 36. That's the only way I can tell it's a Lear 36 compared to a 35.
In a brief 5 minute look at US registered P-47Ns only I found this picture of the only one listed.

Not 100% sure if this is a flying model. This is out at Chino, CA http://www.yanksair.com/0250/20090624-047.png (http://www.yanksair.com/0250/20090624-047.png)
If you're trying to identify a particular model of Jug, I suspect that you would need a closer look. I don't think the Jug you saw was at tree top level. But if it was, that was a very lucky day for you.

This is it.

That's an N with a paint job attempting to portray the 63rd FS, 56thFG although they have the Squadron Codes painted on backwards on the right side.
You can tell it's an N by the longer, square tipped wings.
I really doubt any M's came back from Europe as the entire production run went to the 56th.
wrongway

Well, it was the "N" that i must have saw. That is the skin profile that was on it and the tips of the wings was square. I was not sure if the "M" had the square tipped wings. Thx sir

boo chino!
they took our A20H away that we were restoring to flight condition after years of restoring it. :t there currently are no A20's even flying. well there might be one, but ive found conflicting stories so im not really sure. plus ours was the only A20H left.
though we do have a C-123K and OV-1D from them which hopefully the C-123K will become ours shortly so i cant completely talk them down. :lol
edit: its not actually yanks Air after i looked at their website but another museum that is based out of chino
