With the update my screen freezes for a fraction of a second every two seconds. This happens driving, rotating a turret or gun and from the F3/F8 views from the tower and does it in both LWA's. That's as much as I tested.
I've also lost 2 fps from my refresh rate since the update. That's tolerable but the micro-freezes aren't.
[EDIT] Forgot to mention my mouse will barely move over the log-on screen.
-
A DXDIAG output would be helpful.

try minimising AH then maximising, works for me

After the patch release yesterday the stop action stutters are back. Doesn't matter what alt, what aircraft or what arena...even happens offline.
Did notice on the splash screen the resolution showed a 1448x988 when video settings shows 1440x900 vsync on and anti-aliasing 2 notches...in game video memory 0.0 available - ~163 used...fps at 70-74.

I decided to do a little maintenance this morning and took my computer apart for a good cleaning. I guess it had been a while as my temps dropped 5-10C across the board.
I also realized I had forgotten to install the updated Hi Res pack so I did that after the cleaning. That wasn't the problem.
After reading the BBs I tried opening thte video settings and re-accepting them. That didn't work. Then I tried minimizing and resizing the log on screen. That got rid of the in-game pauses although my mouse is still slow on the log-on screen. Not a full test as I only tried it rotating from the tower but that was fine for the first time.
Regardless, here's a copy of the top of my DXDiag if it will help resolve the problems [EDIT] I did notice gyrene and I are both running Nvidia motherboards although mine's an EVGA 780i:

After reading the BBs I tried opening thte video settings and re-accepting them. That didn't work.
If works for me every time if I fully maximize the login window first (by clicking on the symbol) in the upper right corner, and then re-accept the video settings.
-
Same here, no joy. Updated V-Card driver, tryed minimize and others, still freezes of 5 secs or mor and no FPS higher then 28 (normal 60)

Update: Ran some tests to see if making any changes would fix the "stuttering" effect in the game.
Uninstalled the game completely after saving settings, stick def, skins, terrains and sights folders.
Downloaded latest version of full installer and re-installed the game.
Copied the folders I previously saved back to the game folder.
Reset resolution to native resolution (1680x1050) opened game and double checked resolution...set textures to 512...anti-aliasing 1 notch...vsync enabled.
Noticed the resolution shown on the splash screen says 1688x1030.
Turned detailed terrain and bump map terrain off...no change in stuttering effect.
Turned detailed terrain and bump map terrain on again...changed terrain detail setting from almost full fast to almost full detail...stuttering effect became less noticeable with near full detail setting.
Disabled viewing other player skins...noticeable decrease in stuttering effect.
Test flights in 4 different aircraft...stuttering effect was least noticeable in B24-J except in bombsight and belly turret, tail gun and nose guns...noticed graphic glitch in belly turret, top right of screen, appeared a panel was flickering like a movie projector regardless of turret viewing position.
Stuttering effect almost unnoticeable with increased altitude.
During the testing there was a constant flickering bottom right corner of the screen showing my network connection icon that sits in the system tray.
Also noticed frame rates were slow to pick up and video memory usage went to 200+ MB like it did in previous working versions.
Email sent with film and dxdiag.
-
I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.
I run an Nvidia system monitor with selected monitors placed on my desktop. At one point last night as I was trying things I logged on and my monitors kept flashing through to the game. That's never happened before.
-
Update: set textures to 1024 entered blue arena - stuttering effect and flashing of system tray icon are gone. :headscratch:
-
Is there a prtoblem with this Skuzzy?
Please let me know. I just wanna play the game again.

I logged on tonight. Again I had the micro-second frame freezes every two seconds. I logged back out and resized the log-on window by dragging the edges, logged back on and everything was fine again.
I guess I can get everything working by doing this but it just doesn't seem like I should have to.
One other thing that really annoys me now is that if you log out the clipboard gets so small in the log-on window I can barely make out what's what. I pretty much have to guess as I can't really read it.

AwMac, make sure you have unchecked "Detailed Terrain" in the games Options->Graphic Detail. Also make sure you are not forcing antialiasing in the "Video Settings".
You might try removing the "video8.cfg" file from the games "settings" folder as well.
BaldEagl, instead of resizing the opening window by dragging it, use the "full screen" button. You only have to do that once and the game will remember it.

I had this same problem. I went in Unchecked the detail and anit-aliasing All eye candy.. then went back in and checked them all. It works fine now.
Just needed to disable all the eye candy then re enable it.
Prior to this deleting the "video8.cfg" file did NOTHING.

I had exactly the same problem, but only the first time I started the game. Mouse lag at the open screen, every two seconds or so; same in tower in the arenas. (didn't even attempt to fly) Logged off, came back in....
Second time, everything smoothed out and gained an average of 5 FPS over last week.
I didn't touch anything on my system. <shrug>
*EDIT* Had to do the exact same thing today. Log in first time...mouse freeze every two seconds, FR of 2 in arena, with massive freezes. Log out. Relog.... no issues.
The one thing I did see different was the "Vidmem" and "Vid used" tags at the top of screen were different between the two. The first login had "Vidmem 0" "Used 33.4" The second login had "Vidmem 512.0" "Used 33.4"
Hope this helps.
