Title: AMD DDR Ram vs SDRAM
Post by: Wilbus on October 07, 2001, 06:49:00 AM
What's the difference? I know that the SDRAM runs on 133mhz, while the DDR ram runs at 266, this should give it alot more speed, is there anything else wich is better with it? Is it worth the price of the RAM annd, the 70 dollar more expencive MB?

I am going for a good MB, wich can be upgraded for a long time, wich one should I chose?

My friend is having similar 1,4GHz system like me but with SDR-RAM. When he saw my Sandra mem-benchmars he said my DDR was giving 50% better results.

BTW Mushkin is selling 512mb DDR-RAM chips under 80$

Read this Wil

What is DDR? (http://www.ddr-memory.com/about_ddr.asp)

DDR works with lower volage, meaning less heat too.

I'd like to see some direct benchmarks to prove it...
Not Sandra, something like Quake 3, or other 3d game

Thanks guys, will go for DDR RAM, mainly because I want a kick *ss MB that I can upgrade for a "long" time. I have a tight budget, must have somehting under $400, prefarably around $300 so paying $80 RAM is a NO NO  :(

Will go for 128, maybe 256 Mb at first.

go 256 first and then get another 256 of exact same brand.

128 is not worth it when ram is so cheap.
