like most of us that have flown the camel in the ww1 arenas I have found the lack of fwd and up views due to sopwiths disastrous cockpit positioning very frustrating ruining what is otherwise a great plane, having looked at a lot of ww1 photos it appears the real pilots thought so too as most have removed the wing covering from the centre 4-6 spars, as far as i know this was not an official mod just something the pilots and or ground crews did. Please could we have this mod as an alternative aircraft or better still as an option in the hanger.

HTC doesn't do field mods.
-
well this is a "wishlist" forum n I wish they did.
-
or the "comic" nightfighter variant that had 2 lewis guns mounted on top of the upper wing and the cockpit further back down the fuselage ?
-
Field mods not allowed...historically accurate factory revisions only.
Sorry...no mod for you.

Some what off topic & I have mentioned it before. Explain the B25C strafer version then in regards to field modifications as these were not done in the factory of manufacture?

Just for you lyric from your favorite web reference site:
Following a number of additional modifications, including the addition of Plexiglas windows for the navigator and radio operator, heavier nose armament, and deicing and anti-icing equipment, the B-25C was released to the Army. This was the second mass-produced version of the Mitchell, the first being the lightly-armed B-25B used by the Doolittle Raiders. The B-25C and B-25D differed only in location of manufacture: -Cs at Inglewood, California, -Ds at Kansas City, Kansas. A total of 3,915 B-25Cs and -Ds were built by North American during World War II.
If even wikipedia can get it right...have to wonder.

Ahh... no there is no reference at all about the strafer version here in your post. Most of the C & D's were modified in Australia along with a number of G models. I can't access the site at present but it has excellent photo's of all the above aircraft lined up for the refits.

Er no...the Cs and Ds only differed by what factory they were produced in...after the strafer nose section was developed, units already in the field were sent modifications but...there were subsequent factory produced units until the G model was produced.

Mmmmm. So field modifications are allowed?....... so long as the factory sent the parts?
:neener:

I know where you're coming from with the B-25C. Pappy Gunn and what not. Of course, they were eventually put into production on the factory assembly lines.
Maybe that's the caveat?

Ok,back to the camel,I know for instance that many mossie pilots found the factory produced throttle levers way too short for fine throttle control needed on landings and such so they extended them themselves,I would not expect HTC to show this as it has no relevance to the playing of the game, but fabric removal on the upper wing would have a major effect on the visibility in the aircraft and HTC would not be being historically accurate if they didnt represent this.Im obviously not going to get my way on this but the "comic" was a factory produced variant and would be a much more interesting option than having say a spit8 and spit9 in the game for instance.

I dont know anything about skinning aircraft in the game but would it be possible for someone to produce a skin that has this option?
-
There is a lot of difference in the size of the hole as seen in the picture.
What we have now.

What he wants.

I don't think they can skin that it is hard programmed I think.

yeh thats it lyric, Ive even seen pics of the covering removed as far out as the fuselage struts but carnt find any of them at the moment. The picture you have looks like the "comic" top wing, the heavy cross member at the rear being where the lewis guns would have been mounted.
