Have been playing for years and never really wondered, but now I am wondering. Whan a player from another team sends a private message to you it starts out with LWorange if thats the arena your in. I hev sent messages to other players by clicking on their name in the roster but it does not have the LWorange in front of message. Just wondering what one has to do to send a message like that. Thanks for your help.

Think I answered my own question, didnt see this before:Command: .p GameID Text
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parameters: GameID; the pilot handle of the player
Text; The message to send
Available: Online
This command is used to send a private mesage to a player in any arena regardless of where it originates.
Is this what I use?
Thanks

to send a PM to a player in a different arena you would use the .p GAMEID command
-
Not a different arena, a person on one of the other team. Today I had a guy kept sending me junk because I kept killing him ..... LWOrange:you think your good? Stuff like that
-
When u use .p it shows the arena that it came from. When you tune the persons name in the vbox it doesn't show up.
-
Got it. Thank You

The PM command works to reach ANY player logged into the game and flying in an arena, friend, foe, or Skuzzy. I believe this includes the Lobby as well.

I don't care for the PM feature. I get them all the time lately. The other feature you need to know is .squelch GAMEID TEXT. :D

Is there a dot command to find out where a squad is and who from that squad is? Like, say I want to find the Swampdragons and im in the Blue arena, is there a dot command to figure out which ones are in the Orange?
Edit: not in their squad, so .sr will not work

nope, you only have the .f gameid to use for that........ and it only lets you "find" ( search arenas ) for one individual at a time.... if you know who the players are for any particular squadron, just use the .f gameid command until you locate someone......
hope this helps.....
edit: got me to thinking...... might make a good wishlist item to have HTC extend the .f command to include squad names on top of gameid's????? that way you can find any player from any squad perhaps? ( TC is thinking outloud again )

Thanks TC, it does

I would just extend .sr to have an optional squad name.

that would be awesome, hitech, Sir
or are you saying that it is already that way now? and I just missed the message regarding somehwere?
it could be problemsome, as some of these squads use some very strange ( or unique ) characters in their squad names
---> example *~~/// BlAcK WiDoWs \\\~~*
would one have to be so correct in using the exact spelling or use of characters / symbol keys to do a search.....
no hurry in replying.. We all know HTC has more important things on the list
( don't know why I didn't think of the .sr <squadname> thought of searching for different squads......... need some coffee :) )

I would imagine that you would type in the CO's GameID, as that's how you search for squad scores etc.
