See it's things like that fake Zelda trailer and this fan made Street Fighter movie, http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=h2ZXSzaUIBQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=h2ZXSzaUIBQ), that prove that depending on who has control video game adaptations can be good. Not only good but great.

I was bored one day and wrote a spec script for a Metroid movie, partly based on the Zero Mission manga with one character from the Super Metroid Nintendo Power comic. Friend of mine read it and loved it. I didn't pull any punches, either, so it was written to be Rated R. And no, there were NOT any Samus nude scenes you perverts. It's chock full of graphic scifi violence. And Samus has a very filthy mouth. :D
There's two big mistakes always being made in game movies: The first is that too often they stray WAY too far from the source material (I dare you to watch Super Mario Bros.). The second is when they dumb it down for the kiddies.
Ok, there's a third one: The studio hires Uwe Boll to make it.

IF anyone has ever deserved to be beaten with socks full of potatoes by marines it's that hack. That man can win awards for the worst wastes of film.

I don't know how he KEEPS making movies. At least Bruckheimer and Bay's movies rake in a ton of cash. Has Boll made anything that WASN'T a horrific bomb?

I thought Silent Hill and even Resident Evil were pretty good game adaptations :aok
