That bit about potential public safety applications including "Homeland Security", "tactical" and "not ruling anything out" bothers me.

Now that I think about it, there's a whole new market out there for micro weaponry. Laser guided flashbang grenades, tear gas rockets and taser darts. The possibilities are endless and there's money to be made in the name of safety.

Welcome to two years ago. It's not Texas, just Houston. Another toy shopping spree from our previous mayor... but a drone can't do anything new that couldn't be mounted on any existing air assets. Would you rather the police fly ferociously expensive, turbine helicopters, like they have been doing for decades, or a much more cheaply operated, rotax-powered drone?

I've heard a rumor that the HPD and other departments are secretly recruiting pilots from AH to fly these unmanned drones from the comfort of the pilot's home... new stick set-up and computer provided...   :noid

Buy an RC, fix a camera in the nose that transmits image to a receiver, perhaps even to monitor-goggles, and you have a short range drone. I was hooked up on one some days ago.
Now add a gun or clamp a grenade onto it, muhahaha.
