Title: Patch 3 and now AH won't display
Post by: Mister Fork on May 26, 2010, 10:03:39 AM
My machine
OS:  Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
VId: ATI 5750 1Gb
Mobo: Asus M7V
CPU: AMD 6400+ X2 (3Ghz)
Mem: 4 Gb micron (all same)

When I installed patch 3 and tried to run the game, nothing happens.  Zip. Nada. Nothing.  The exe is running in the processor list. Tried running it as an administrator.

So I reinstalled the patch. Same.  Installed the FULL 180mb version.  Nothing.

Suggestions?  Uninstall, delete directory, reinstall?  But I thinking that won't work either.
Any suggestions? Reinstall the hi-rez pack?

Have not seen this with anyone.

Can I assume you are not running the game in the "Program Files" folder?
Can I assume you tried renaming the existing installation folder and installing a full version?

Didn't this happen to a few people with the original 2.19? It was the video8.cfg file or something along that lines that fixed it for a few people....aside from full uninstall, delete directories, then full install.

just for comparisons sake, I have a similar setup although I am running Windows 7 64 bit instead of 32 bit and I have not experienced any problems at all:

while reading this thread ( problem ) that Mister Fork is having, and also reading the problem of Ooz as well, they both say that they see the aces high.exe running in processes or see the patches running in task manager.......

my question is, do you get the "Program Compatibility Assistant" pop-up after you have installed a patch or complete game? and if you do, do you click "Program Installed correctly"  or do you click "Install useing recommended settings"  ?

I use the "Program Installed correctly" and I do not use any type of compatibility setting for Aces High. I have yet to really run into any problems using Windows 7 Ult. 64 Bit

hope this is of help to someone

Since the game is listed in the processor list then the game is indeed running.  If you start the game from a desktop icon, right-click the icon and select Properties.  On the Shortcut Tab set the Run option to Maximized and then click OK.  Double-click the icon to launch the game and see if the startup screen is visible.  It is possible that the startup screen is beyond the boundaries of the desktop and setting to Maximized should fill the screen.

Now - when I alt-tab out of the game, the issue reappears - the game won't re-maximize if I try to go back into it again.  Suggestions?

the only fix that worked for me was changing my desktop resolution before entering the game.....

seems the game is trying to transfer your desktop res to the game everytime you open it........ if desktop res is higher than you can run the game at then it tries to open the game but just sits there on the desktop............ Ive had it both with solid white screen or just looking at desktop with AH in the taskbar

may not be your issue just sayin what my issue is........ my VC just wont run the game at the high res I have on my desktop....... so I guess game is stuck

Edit: I had this same problem when they first released the new versions how ever many months ago...... but somewhere in one of the patches they fixed it....... now with the new windowed mode updates Im right back with same problem
