Title: Really Stupid Question....
Post by: LLogann on May 26, 2010, 12:12:24 PM
We can change gunsights, we can change sounds, we can use the GUI to change all kinds of crazy graphic related stuff.....

But can we change the in-game mouse pointer?

For example.... Make it just a dot?

Yes, I believe it can be done by editing the "cursor" .bmp file in the Aces High directory. I haven't done it myself but if memory serves I've read about some people changing it.

I'm not sure off hand what the limitations are other than I'm assuming the new graphics can't be more than the original in size (16x16).

Of course you can, and a few have made pretty fancy wirble/osti pointers for the mouse pointer.

...or you could make your mouse pointer a pretty face to look at.   :D

I tried to make my cursor a gun-sight, but it does not show up, the one with purple has a larger bit depth and the way I got it to be to your specifics, was to turn the three  color indexes to 176, so that is the gray one, every thing is exact as the default but it does not show up at all, any clue??

thanx for help in advance

of course it is :aok

lol ok now I feel like a tard, ya it is bitmap but the sizes are different, it is supposed to be 1.30 kb, the gray one was 1.80 kb I thought the 8 was a 3 lol.
so i re edited it, it is showing up but in negative form. will work on it some more.
alright worked on it, it is now  the same as default and this is what I got.

well I opened it up in Photofiltre and just clicked "indexed color" then saved it. now it works perfect :rock

side note I tried the 32 by 32 that did not work gave a weird line across screen that moved like it was cursor.

32x32 works too. After going to 6048x1080 I had trouble finding the mouse pointer so I made mine larger.

Like Ink a 32bit size showed up as a long white line that acted like a cursor.

16x works fine.
