Hi everyone, I am new to AH. I downloaded the game the other night and found an X52 config file here and installed it in the settings directory. My landing gear and flaps don't seem to work. I do the auto take-off but I cant land it.
Is there a default landing gear keyboard stroke? Where can I find all the commands?
Thanks all.

1) welcome to AH
2) default keys for lowering & raising flaps are Q and W, gear is G
3) you may have simply been too fast to deploy gears & flaps, be well under 200mph for that (minimum flap deployment speeds vary between planes)
4) visit http://trainers.hitechcreations.com for more info, controller setup and printable command reference guide

All Key commands can be found at options, controls, mapkeys be sure to check all subsections ie: global, views, flight, etc.

Got it, just found them. Sheesh, I should of got a degree from MIT after I started reading about convergence. :D
I have come to the conclusion that, this is not a game. I keep hearing from different people "Welcome to your new life"

Exactly so :)
Yes speed is vital when landing.
Get your speed down to 150, drop flaps and gear, and then and only then point your nose at the runway.
Get too fast and those gears will break off, and the flaps will retract.

I nice long shallow decent on landing is actually a great way to get some practice at controlling speed and start to learn how each airframe handles under low speed conditions, both clean and with gear and flaps out, nose high, nose low, etc. Later on being able to handle the plane under those kind of conditions can come in quite handy in a fight.

to add...
when you drop flaps you will find that your nose has a tendency to pull upwards so I always use the i key to trim my elevator DOWN when landing. One of the few times I use trim is when landing.
(the i key being the default Elevator DOWN key)

I like using the flaps for flare instead of the stick. Then right above the runway raise one notch (P-38). Makes for a greaser of a landing.
