Title: Funky F4U stalls

Anyone else noticing a "difference" in how easily the F4U stalls, and the sometimes "odd" behavior of them?  

Since the WWI introduction, I've noticed I stall much easier, and they aren't the normal "left-wing drop" thing I'm so used to.

Not that I'm complaining...  I actually think it's kind of interesting, fun, challenging, etc...  I'm just wondering if others are seeing it, or if it's just me.

I initially thought it was my joystick acting up, and since it had some non-working HAT switches, etc, I traded it in for a new one (same stick- X52).  Now that I've had the new stick a few weeks, I still see the stalls.

To me, it almost feels like the F4U got more tail heavy, but I have no way of knowing for sure...

Take a look at this film, to see what I mean.  This is an F4U-1A, empty wing tanks (maybe 1/16th in the right) and about 1/2 full main.  Watch the stalls from outside too, you can see some cool skids.  The first one hits just after 1 minute in.  Another one at about 1:20.

About 1 year ago (pre- WWI_ I did something similar to this while forcing a landing while under attack, but didn't have it on film.  I actually did a wings-level skid so hard I was traveling backwards briefly about 100ft above the runway.  I thought I was a goner, but somehow managed to recover and land.  I tried like mad to do it again on film, but couldn't.  Now, I can do similar things at will (and often against my will, lol!).

What do you guys think?

I haven't been flying as much lately, and it could just be partly me being rusty and uncoordinated...

I haven't noticed any handling or performance differences in the F4U at all. Stalls, speed, maneuverability, or otherwise.

I had mentioned about a week or so ago, that there was a rumor the flight model had been altered slightly for the F4U. I brought up that I had been "departing controlled flight" a lot easier and against my will.  :headscratch:
When I pulled back on the stick to "pitch up" I've lost it several times recently and was very surprised(and gave away a couple proxy deaths as a result). I fly the F4U all the time and haven't taken any brakes flying it recently.

I did notice that it was helpful in the zoom in that after relaxing my sticks pitch settings it helped me zoom longer. I remember a very nice hammerhead reversal at about 18MPH! I just let go of the stick and it rotated 180degrees nose up to nose down. I didn't even use any rudder. I used to be able to control it to about 65-80MPH in the zoom. Now I can continue the zoom to about 45MPH on average and sometimes longer.

One of the "more senior people" here told me in a conversation in the arena that he had been told the flight model for the F4U had been altered. I don't name names EVER (where I come from "snitches" are disposed of quickly "with extreme prejudice") so......That's all I got.

This would not be admissible evidence in court but it is interesting. I've already "been talked too" by another "Senior" that this flight model change is Not The Case!!!!! LOL

I don't think the FM changed recently myself.  It just seems a bit "touchier" to me lately.

you really gota be careful who you get your info from.

I can think of a ton of players that you would prob. consider "senior" that are total nutjobs.

I would pay attention to players like WideWing, Ghosth, Murdr, TC, etc, etc.
(trainers, or CM's are usually a good place to go for info.  but even they don't get much, if any, "inside info" from HTC)

I can only think of a couple players in the game that would have "inside info" from HTC about any changes made before they tell the community.  (no names)

I would also add that HTC isn't going to change something like a planes flight model and not tell the community.

I thought the topic in GD was pretty funny when it started and then the OP said he discovered it was his setup that was not right. And STILL people are replying in that thread as if something changed. The only part of the F4U that bothers me is when I bounce it on landing.

The longer you fly it, and push the envelope, the better you will get at taking it all the way down to "0" mph while nose is pointed up.....

edit: this can be very helpful, if you want to fully appreciate the F4U's prop hanging abilitys
