Title: My Subconcious Telling Me Something?
Post by: thndregg on May 30, 2010, 07:58:25 AM
Last night I had a dream I was puttering around in a Tiger tank, being chased down by a Panzer lobbing shots at me as I was dodging through trees, shrubbery & whatnot. Pretty bad when I have a dream about Aces High, even worse when it's GV'ing in Aces High because I am the WORST tanker there is.

Anyway, I do remember swinging my turret around to finally plug the guy at close range and explode his turret as he's running me down, and that's where the dream ended.
Probably fits with me: I would need a Tiger, or something superior to do any good at tanking. :P

Sounds like too much time in a bomber. High altitudes, thin air, that kinda thing.... :D

I've sparked up, maybe, 6 Tigers in 9 years. Either they tip over after rolling over a pebble, or some Panzer takes me out with a hit or 2 from 2k  :furious :cry

You the worst tanker? Ha, nice try, but I've been the recipient of that award since I started. I still claim to be the only person to be killed 10 times in a row at a friendly spawn camp, without 1 victory myself.  :neener:

The other night I had a dream that HTC had expaned AcesHigh and gave each squad their own personal O'Club near their countries HQ.  They had added something called "squad perks" and you could use those perks to expand your squads O'Club and customize it.

It was really vivid and detailed and I woke up thinking "hey, that would be kinda neat!".

I don't quite follow you. How do you REALLY feel  :D?

Sounds like your subconcious is telling you to get your bellybutton in a tank, and improve your skills  :devil. IMO, skill at tanking comes down to three things, in order of importance of course:

Use of cover and concelment
Gunnery
Use of terrain and movment

If the other guy gets to 100yds, your gunnery doesn't matter since you'll have the crosshairs on him. Find a nice thick clump of trees, hide in them, and wait for them to come to you. The only way you can learn what makes good cover is practice.

Gunnery will help you in long range engagments, and when you need to quickly get the range on someone. On a good day, I won't miss a single shot out to 1600yds, while on a bad day it will take me 5 shots to get the range at 800yds. Pushing your head position all the way forward (except in the M4's, as it doesn't really help, and just screws up the ranges) will help, and practice untill you can kind of "feel" the range. I don't use the range marks, I just look at a tank and think that looks like its around 12 (12 being 1200yds on the range marks).

Use terrain as much as you can. Fight from the high ground whenever possible, and don't blow all the time you spent climinbing that hill just to get one kill. Use the burms to get hull down, and cover your movments. Again, practice is about the only thing that will help.

There ya go, now you're all set. Then again, I'm the one telling you this, so likely its a formula for suicide  :noid.

TonyJoey,

I've got you beat hands-down bro....I respawned 31 times and never got the engine turned on!  I am positive they were all taking turns on me because they each landed 10 kills.  Pride got the best of me that night....lol :rofl
