You guys were well organized today and out-flew us in our event today.

Never the less, we had fun and look forward ot our next fight.

If anybody from Team USA or Europe have good film to post, please do so.

we examined his family tree and found that he was 1/4 irish and it goes all the way back to the potato famine.

I asked raider whether he had picked bone to fly with you guys and he said no.

we did make up 50% of the pilots because we are the largest Euro squad.

I for one enjoyed the fighting,  was pretty intense!

Title: Team America vs Team Europe
Post by: Bruv119 on May 30, 2010, 03:30:40 PM
So after Junky's post let me explain what it was all about.

SE Raider some weeks ago asked me whether it be possible to get a one off 11 vs 11 matchup organised in the DA composed of the best sticks we could find for a Ryder Cup style America Vs Europe fight.

Using the Squadron Dueling league rules as a guide we fought 5x 1 life rounds in the following planes;

Spit 9,  109K4,  F6F5,  F4U 1A, Ki-84,   the participants were as follows;

Team America;

(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c181/Bruv119/TA.jpg)

SE Raider, Tonyjoey, Krupinski, snaphook, froger, lossuns, violater, muzik, sads and juggler

Team Europe;

(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c181/Bruv119/EUFLAG.jpg)

(GBR) Bruv119, Kazaa, Greebo, Airbull, RTHolmes (GER) Dhyran, (SUI) Viperius, Sveno (ITA) Chewi  and (1/4 Irish) DrBone

Results

Round 1   10 vs 10,  Europe had 8 planes left.
Round 2   10 vs 10   America had 7 planes left.
Round 3   10 vs 10   Europe had 8 planes left.
Round 4   9 vs 9      Europe had 7 planes left.
Round 5   9 vs 9      Europe had 6 planes left.

End result:     Team Europe wins 4-1

If you wanted to get involved with this type of action we do have the Squadron Dueling league to arrange matches against other squadrons.  On July 1st we will be starting the Official Second season of SDL and reset the current ladder back to zeros.   It has been on going for the last 18 months and we have had over 50 matchups.

With the amount of squadrons in AH to only have 12 prepared to do battle is a little low IMO,  So you have up until the July 1st to get signed up   :aok

We are also looking to do a monthly KOTH type event but with squadrons that anyone with 6 or more players will be able to participate in.

 :salute

I was hoping we could make this a bi-annual or yearly event.

Bone told me that he wasn't picked for the U.S team, their loss, being that he wanted in on the action.
After all he's 1/4 Irish, that counts still, right? :rofl

Was just a little bit of fun suns, no need for drama.

I take responsibility for this one DrBone.  I should have considered you and I completely forgot and would have loved to have had you on our team.  I wrongly associated you with European with the FEW and should have not done so.  So to my teammates, this is my mistake and it won't happen again.   :cry

There are rumors circulating the interwebz that DrBone is not 1/4 irish and in fact injected synthetic Irish rum into his veins.  More news to come from the International Cartoon Drug Testing Agency soon, pending the results of a blood test that DrBone reluctantly provided.

From a position of limited knowledge I wouldn't know what a top "Team America" would look like. Who would people nominate? I reckon our own Dr Bone, Bamboo and Cobra Jet would be well worth considering as well as Grizz, Tonyjoey, Kermit, Joker, snaphook and possibly Floatsup. Other than that I can't think of any US aces but as I said through ignorance as much as anything.

It would be interesting to see what players or combinations people can come up with here? I am sure with around 80% of the players the US should have an excellent talent base to select from.

Your not worried we will get beaten are you  :D

Seriously I would be  surprised if they genuinely got their best against our best and they didn't win given there are over 4000 players in the game and so many are pottential flyers for team America. It is perhaps becase they are a so much larger community it is harder to pull in the top 10 or eleven. In addition the European team is probably much more accustomed to flying together.

Anyway that is enough opinion for now :o

SunsFan, Krupnski, Grizz, Lazer, SERaider, TonyJoey, DrBone, Bosco, Kermit, (last spot could be anyone TC,J0ker, snaphook, Agent)

Couldnt agree more, but teamwork requires alot of SA on part of the people that are on the team. Also I think since most of them fight eachother very often 1v1 they know how they will fight in a bigger fight.

Let me put it like this, I know Grizz is going to hit whatever he gets his nose on, so if Im setting up a shot for him Im going to put myself in more danger because I would trust that he isnt going to miss.

You know what Im sayin?

Title: Re: Salute Europe
Post by: humble on June 01, 2010, 12:33:38 PM
The one thing about these rumbles is that gunnery trumps ACM. 3 of the 5 fights I got 1 pinged and in 2 of the 3 I felt like I was giving a very marginal shot window while trying to clear someone else. In all 3 cases I had already had multiple shot windows I couldn't convert. I'm slowly learning that I actually need to fly much more aggresively in these then I do in a true 1 v 1 since I have no chance to make a positive impact unless I do so. Finally just went all in from beginning on the last one and got 2...but I give all the credit to Bruv and the Euro's they fly very very well as a bunch....

we had 2 weeks notice.  I hear what everyone is saying about the lineups but unfortunately R/L gets in the way of things.

I didn't field the team I wanted to but I think all of us that flew, apart from Greebo, have participated in several SDL matches whereas the US team have not.  As snap said it is far more about quick gunnery and SA than raw flying ability.  The teamwork aspect is also very important.

You could field the best 10 indivadual pilots and they may not work well together...  Thats what makes these fights very interesting because anything can happen.
Title: Re: Salute Europe
Post by: SEraider on June 01, 2010, 01:59:16 PM
To Bruv119's point above,

Their team just had better ideas and tactics that got them the results they deserve.  They won hands down.

We can talk about dream-teams, but it is as useless as male nipples imho.

I am happy with the team we put together because the 10 guys that were there (11 if I did not make the mistake on DrBone  :uhoh), were guys that made a commitment to be there.  I have respect for guys who made it to the event as they promised and made this event possible.  The guys that said they be there and did not, things happen and I am not mad about it. Things just happen.  I asked about 20-25 different people.  So if I missed some of those name that were recommended here, I'll give it consideration on the next go-around.

As far as I am concerned, I had the best 10 pilots that were there for each other, when they said they would.  If you want to put a "dream-team," versus the 10 guys that were out there on Sunday, I'll take the same guys again.  They made it, I am loyal to them, and I think it be a better showing in results too if we had to go at it again.

To the guys who made it on both sides, I salute you.

Results are in.  DrBone has tested positive for trace amounts of a synthetic Irish rum found in his blood.  These findings counter the "1/4 Irish" explanation, and invalidate it as a fabrication.  DrBone's PR campaign is tight lipped on the subject matter but our sources close to DrBone, who wish to remain anonymous, are eluding to a full denial and lawsuit being filed on DrBone's behalf.  These accusations and resultant turmoil are causing a cyclone of negativity to surround the international Olympic Dueling Event and cast shadow on the event's integrity for future scheduled events.  Olympic Dueling President Bruv119, has no comment.

I sent the info to everyone or so I had thought.  Didn't think you were in the lineup til klingan dropped out at short notice.  We are pretty open about our vent tho most guys are welcome in the squad or not....

Nice video Dhyran, exemplary calls!

dhyran, terrific video!  :aok

The graphics looked really good from your perspective.  It makes me feel like I want to get another event going again.  Good volume to music mix too.  I appreciate the work.  Hopefully next time it's more competitive.  :salute

SunsFan, Krupnski, Grizz, Lazer, SERaider, TonyJoey, DrBone, Bosco, Kermit, (last spot could be anyone TC,J0ker, snaphook, Agent)

If I were the coach of the American team.....I wouldnt play until I had that line up all on.

It be like the movie Miracle but the American team wouldnt have any chance of losing....

you know what Im sayin :D

I'm getting tired of this bs of never getting mentioned  :devil Just because I'm not a politician and don't have a lot of money doesn't mean I should get left out  :t
