Title: PC case
Post by: -ammo- on October 12, 2001, 04:57:00 PM: I know i have recieved advice on this before, but I wanted to specify something I want in a PC Tower.

I would like my tower to have a minimum of 2 fans

the case I have now has spoiled me with how easy it is to acces the inside. One thumb screw and 2 push down tabs and it slides off, I want one with similar features.

AMD certified

Antec 1030/1040 come with 1 fan in the power supply, and 2 in the case with mounting brackets for 2 more fans also.

I bought the 1030, and picked up the 2 extra fans at the same time ($10 ea)

Its a great case, components go in and out in a snap, it has lots of room, and ya can get it in black.

In canada eh I paid $200 after taxes inc the 2 fans, so likely in the US u can get the same thing for under 150.
Oh yeah I bought the 1030 which has a 300W ps, the 1040 has a 400w ps and costs a little more.

The antec does look good though, I am definately looking at that one.

Either way, I'm pretty sure the case on your current system is made by Palo Alto Products (http://www.paloaltoproducts.nl/). Dell and Micron at one time used (and possibly still use) Palo Alto cases on some of their systems and just slapped slightly different plastic front ends on the case to make them look different. There's a few reviews about on the net on their cases (at arstechnica (http://arstechnica.com/reviews/cases.html) and Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=994&p=1)). If you search for Palo Alto case on PriceWatch you can find a few vendors that sell them.

No screws, AMD approved 340W PS, 1 fan in the PS, one fan in the front, and I added a fan on the mounting position in the back. Keeps my 1333/GF3 frosty for $55.
