What if we would be able to locate enemy CV's on the map so when we fly inside a sector, and there's an enemy CV there you spoted in the map. That would help to avoid before they start shooting on you or to head right into the CV if you would like to bomb it.
If you stay away from that sector, you will not see the cv and off course, if you make a false location nothing happends
For example, right click on the map, and there you have an option like "Locate enemy CV"...

-1, that would be too easy for cv's to get spotted from coastal airfields. Just one upper comes out of a field in the sector and the cv gets lit up like a Christmas tree.
I'd rather see a system where you can post icons on the map indicating enemy forces (e.g., cv's, bomb raids, fighter attacks, etc.) but this has potential to get abused.
Edit: to guard against icon spamming, a player can only make one mark every 15 minutes. Also, the player has to be within 6k of the enemy to make the respective icon mark to prevent wild goose chases

-1 on this bit, because it would allow players to mark things by a process of elimination.

very good point, i think the first idea is a -1
but the second idea +1 (but with some tweaking)

but if your within 6k of the enemy you know exactly what it is. There's no guessing what the enemy is then. I say you have to be a certain distance from an enemy to prevent numskulls from calling out enemy positions in the middle of nowhere and sectors away from the nearest enemy

I've got a great idea for a CV Locator.

We already have CV locators...
:noid
They're called shades and spiez.

well lets take some thing from WW2online Marking Contacts a Player Marks out lets say a Tank with the Tank icon the squad leader of that mission have to accept or deny it. that would make AH2 more team played then just do what you like all the day boring zzzz. i think it's a good idea but needs some work done to have a great Contacting marking System +1 :rock

Umm, why waste development resources on something you can do already just by calling out (for instance) "CV 11.6.3 steaming N" on country channel? :headscratch:

Yeah theres no point in having an airfield that can move(Carrier) if your just gonna let it be that easy to find. If were gonna have something like that, then lets have recon planes to scout. -1

I'm no history major but let me see if I remember how CV's were spotted in WWII? I got it now, you flew around in you scout plane until you saw a grey spot on the water. You then ducked down to see what it was. then once you confirmed what type ship it was you radioed back its position and heading. Then the strike group was launched based on you report and projected heading of the CV. I think it works best that way. Leave it alone. No way on this idea.

Puffy ack is the best cv locator around.
"Fly into the ack, Luke."

LOL. Sounds a bit like Battleship.

:headscratch: Nah, not even worth my two cents. Also I would like the Catalina anyway, but I would rather it used in scenario's where u can rescue a downed pilot and not have it count as a life.
A screw it. In all serious though, I must say this. If you want to find a cv, u go up in a 234, and go hunting. Usually for about an hour at a MIN.

Keyword: Organization. typing out positions usually gets lost pretty quick from all the jabber in the text buffer. You might see the message the first time, or you might miss it until its repeated later. I would figure that a totally separate option to pull up map icons would be a better organized form of communication than simply the country channel. Sure, the cv or formations of planes move and the info gets outdated. In that case there should be a time monitor on the information to tell other players if it was posted 1 minute or 20 minutes ago. The name of the game would be to keep the information updated by giving out new enemy positions.

Uh yeah that's right. That's how they did it back then, that's how we do it now, and I dont think anyone is suggesting a way to change that. The icon system would serve as an equivalent to the way the commander would plot friendly and enemy forces on the battlefield based on scouting reports or frontline updates and then relay back that information to his men in the field. The only thing different is that it can be viewed by all country players instead of just the commander.
Look, I see this is being useful in calling out mass enemy movements. not just one or two planes I'm talking about highlighting mission strength enemy groups. I'm just thinking of a better organized communication system. If you can get by with calling out positions on the text buffer then good for you.

i love how the sub is the first one taken out :lol
heres how the system should work: two or three jabos up to patrol the waters near an enemy port. they see the cv, call it out, and i up 17s from the closest base that will get me to 8K, and i flatten it :aok

Forget the second part of my prvious post. I thought you were talking to me and/or about the icon system. I forgot about the OP :uhoh
