I just noticed I clocked up 10 years with HTC in February (paying subscriber from Feb 2000... non-stop... does that make it 11 years?)
Any other really smelly old farts out there? I feel like some sort ancient-one in the MA these days, all these kids running in spitfires and 109K4's.
:old:

Signed up Beta Tour #1 think there was a month of two where I didn't fly but I don't think my subscription has lapsed since then.
-
I've gotta be in there somewhere. Seems like a long time ago :)
-
I am only going on 9yrs here.
I tried it in Nov of 2001 and believe it or not didn't care for it.
(was used to AirWarrior but I grew to love this game)
Dang... has it been that long?
-
Yep A few of us are still around.... Been here since Day 1
and HiTech is still a PUTZ-DWEEB
-
I believe I started up at the end of Beta 2. I remember it was just past Christmas in Dec 1999 and I was looking for a flight sim to play on my brand new Compaq AMD K7 500. I was only 16 years old at the time and couldn't afford to play WB, however, on CNET (I think thats right) I saw a download for this beautiful looking flight sim called Aces High. It looked great, had a B17 with individual engine control, and it was FREE during the beta period.
I remember that when I joined up the B26 had an engine texture bug on the right engine, this caused it to look like a green block with a prop hub sticking out. Looking back I'm amazed no one killed me, I was such a squeeker and an ultra melon. But times change and people mature....except me. :D
-
Halfway there. :neener:
-
Not been here 10 years, but am an old fart
:D
Wurzel
-
not quite 10 years for me, close but not quite 10
-
10 years in October
-
Same thing happened to me Lute. I wasnt impressed with the graphics, and was not aware of the cockpit view adjustments. I think I was here 1 week tops. Went to WW2ol for awhile came back...left, came back to stay.
Vulcan..you would think someone who has played as long as you would be better at it. JUST SAYIN! :P
-
Missed the very first month of pay for play as my squad CO was working out a deal to bring the squad over.
Been here ever since.
-
I've been here since 2000, but I was not always a subscriber.
I was young, and in college and I didn't have money all the time.
-
Came here during the beta (8/99 or 9/99) after +moss and I started talking about it at the AW con in 7/99. Probably taken a total of 6 months or so off over the years...
-
Been here since 2000
-
I was in the first arena 5 minutes after it opened :)
granted, I've taken more naps then rip van winkle (RL issues and what not), and even on a good tour I struggle to break the double digits in hours flown, but I still love the game.
-
I'm such a noob. First month sub was August 2003. I have paid every month since then, money well spent.
-
Been here since beta 1. :D
-
Since beta... except for a couple deployments while I was still active duty.
-
Non stop since beta....I need to get a life

Been here from day one (Beta and free) that is, when I was not flying War Birds, lol.
Scoot.
-
was off & on thru the Beta in '99/2000, Then our whole squad, The Damned, moved here in mass from AW, I think in Feb or March of 2001, although some of us still had to play AW for specific reasons ( until we finally got fed up with them people )...............
was cool back then, initially had to walk from tower to hangar ( or was it the maproom? ) pick your plane ( was very few planes to start in beta ) then taxi to the runway and take off, what a hoot.........
had no auto take off, had to manually trim out the plane, and remember Lonz, NB, Nomde, hitech helping me figure my way thru all the features on my first couple of flights...... it was very challenging to begin with back then.....
beta gameid's - TequilaC & TC <--? if I remember correctly
paying acct gameid's - DamnedTC then back to TC ( someone had taken TC somehow )
since about mid 2002 - have stayed TC ever since I got it back.....
edit: 1st pc used for Aces high in 1999 was an Intel celeron 333 cpu with a 16 meg videocard and 128 megs of ram using a 33600 K modem....... also Aces high was something like 16 to 20 megs download for the game......
:old:
-
Too lazy to check. Either 2001 or 2002
-
Only been here for 9.
-
Tour 23 is the first tour I can find that I scored in.
I believe that would be early 2002. So just over eight years. :O
-
I'm such a noob. First month sub was August 2003. I have paid every month since then, money well spent.
I think that was the same month and year I joined bat. What a coincidence. :rock

I can't remember when I started...wonder if I'm the only one with Alzheimers? :D
-
aawww man....I can't wait for the next seven years to pass so that I can post in one of these :lol :lol
-
I have been here a while.
Never came from anywhere, or went to anywhere.
Probably took 3 years of subscription breaks in the last 10.5 years. I still affix my track clip to my 2000 con hat.
I fondly remember the guys I flew with regularly 8 years ago just like the guys I served in the army with 25 years ago, its weird that way.
I am becoming an old fart though, voice channel can make me feel like I am flying with people way way younger then I am.
HT and Pyros priorities are exactly in line with the majority of the customers, that gives the game some great staying power.
-
oops
-
Been here since late 2001 so I do not qualify for the old fart title, but not really a fresh fart either. Scrub off another 2 years in total for some breaks I took (now is one of them) and you can consider me a noob! :old:
-
I can't remember when I started...wonder if I'm the only one with Alzheimers? :D
In your account activity it shows when you signed up, I signed up October 1998.
Good to see so many of us old farts still going (albeit in zimmerframes for some of us :D ).

aawww man....I can't wait for the next seven years to pass so that I can post in one of these :lol :lol
Sorry it will be a "15 year subscriber thread then" :D

Other than a few months where I closed my account due to financial reasons I have been here for 10 years.
-

Old Farts < New Hotness
Maybe we can have a "super secret" dueling match between the people with 5-7+ years in game against the guys with less...
game on :D
-
In your account activity it shows when you signed up, I signed up October 1998.
Good to see so many of us old farts still going (albeit in zimmerframes for some of us :D ).
I know when I signed up for the BBS, but I had been flying well before that :D
-
I have been here longer than I have been married to my fourth wife <S>
-
Still here after 10
-
Aw, gonna make me log in as 73...
-
What's my reg date? April 2002 i think?
I know I started my account February 2002, but didn't find the forum until April....
So I'm on 9+ years, almost 10.
<EDIT> Yup, April 2002....
So 9 years, do you count lapses in actual active flying? I missed a few years overall due to finances like now... but I have some fun things saved:
I used to have 1.09 saved, it's on a CD somewhere in my archive :rock
-
Im going on 8 years.
-BigBOBCH
-
I think I started in Jan or Feb 2001. Not quite ten years yet but close enough. Been here every month since.
I stayed in AWIII until the bitter end before making the move.
-
9 years in November. Like others, I stayed in AW until the end.
-
Bout 9 at the moment, I suppose.
-
Smelly old farts with over 10 years??
Hey, I resemble that comment! Vega and I started the Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group in Warbirds then started flying Aces High during the Beta tests.
-
Must be getting on for 10 years for me too. I know I was initially dividing my time between AH & AW for a while until the sad demise of AW. Actually I have now been playing AH far longer than I played AW as I only started that in 1998. I'm not as active now mainly playing in scenarios but still here. :)
-
I've been here for 9
-
9 yr 6 mos $1,704 :)
-
I'm still in my first 2 weeks.
-
Don't know most of you, I don't get on so much these days, migrant from AirWarrior, must be about 10 or 11 years now. In fact I am probably one of the highest paying per hour flown subscribers in here. But it is worth it when I get to fite.
Cheers
-
wont make my decade mark "officially" 'til 9 of '11. Could swear I played briefly prior to Tour 20 but don't know for sure since can only go back to Tour 12.
-
TW9,
I am sure you have been here at least as long as me. Spit dweeb....lol
W
-
I have been here looong time.
Low activity summertime is going on.... :D
-
<< A.H. B.O.D ""Tour 43"" 6 yr 10 mos :D

I first played AW 17 years ago, but took a 10+ yr break before subscribing here.

-
I been in Aces High II since Beta...
Thunder
X.O. DHBG
-
I think I started right after WB, as SpreadEagle in '99? That was my AH handle anyways...been on as Warspawn for 9 years now...
-
Alot of 9 year guys, Me also, but I have at least 5 squadies that Joined a year before me that are 10 year guys
(Rod, Tenn, DH, Samnite, FlkJkt)
If I remember right, there was a large exodus from WB's early '01 into '02
and a wise businessman offered a perfectly timed 1 month free trial to AH
-
more than ten years and currently retired; still paying my account to HTC but rarely flying.
I still think this is the best simulation but I don't feel comfortable with the attitude of most of the players nowadays :old:
-
9 yr 6 mos $1,704 :)
I think you are not taking into account the early years when it was 25$ per month.
-
I think I was around in the beta - using a modem to d/l and play. Wasn't it called "Warbirds" first, then changed to Aces High?
I used to fly the Zeke almost exclusively, under my original callsign "maus."
I left the game for rl reasons, but came back a little while ago.
Back in the day, diagnosing connection problems and traceroutes consumed a good bit of time - looking to see what hop was the problem...
-
Switched over from Fighter Ace around Tour 8. I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve.
