Title: Minor PT Boat bug
Post by: Tigger29 on June 03, 2010, 10:44:27 PM
The picture probably says it all.  It only does this looking into the sun:

Any chance you have had an object between you and the sun?  And if so, does the object appear in the sight or is it just blue?

no object... if i move away from the sun it doesn't do that... and if i point it at say.. a mountain or a plane.. it doesn't not do that... only while pointing at the sun

I asked in a misleading manner, forgive me.....

Try taking it offline, go on a cv group and steer her away from the sun, then up a PTboat, get forward of the task group and try this again.  I'm curious to know if that square box will also make the ship disappear behind it.

That make sense?

And of course none of that may have to do with the issue you're having but could help determine what's causing it.

I don't think it's just the PT Boats or his system. I noticed the same thing in the belly gun of the B-17s. From the cockpit looking forward, the drone on the left is not visible if you're looking directly at it through the belly gun sights. The drone on the right is fully visible.

Because there is a blue faded to white object in the game that is the same size as the gunsight?  Hehe, cmon Logan :)

Read the 2nd thing BrothaMan, I cleared it up.... I think....  :headscratch:   I want to know if that blue box in the sun also masks other objects or if he can see the ship silhouette.    :aok

Here is the same phenomenon from the bottom turret of a B-17.

Strangely enough, if another plane flew through there, you could see it.

Oops...forgot I had a top turret pic too...

Other objects are not masked.. only the sun.

I have noticed that on reflective (or is it refractive?) gunsights, the sun doesn't shine through the window, but it does shine around it.  I've just always figured it was supposed to be that way.  The PT Boat sight acts kind of like that, except it is square instead of circular... either case I don't believe it's supposed to be like that.

Also, I've been in PT boats hundreds of times in the past, and I've never noticed this before, so I'm assuming it's something with the latest updates, but perhaps I could be wrong.

With tracers on I reposition myself to not use the gunsites anymore. I find gunning without looking through the gunsights is easier to hit moving targets.

Yes I do that as well.. I position my mouse cursor (full zoom) to the center of the site, and then move my point of view away... BUT...  I'm not asking for help to get around this problem.. I just wanted to point it out so that HT can throw it into their bag of 'things to fix'.
