Title: The A-Team Movie (Spolier Warning)
Post by: Beefcake on June 11, 2010, 12:38:55 AM
Ok so I just finished previewing the new film. I knew it was going to be somewhat silly but didn't realize just how bad it would be.

Heres a few things from the movie.

-A Huey can do a barrel roll 100 feet off the ground.

-A Huey can shut down it's engine in flight and restart it (with the rotor stopped) in 5 seconds.

-A Huey can survive constant barrages of 20mm fire.

-A C130 can carry an M1 Abrams tank.

-A C130 can out maneuver a Predator drone.

-A C130 can do a barrel roll....with an M1 Abrams tank in hits cargo bay.

-Predator Drones are all armed with 8 Sidewinder missiles and 2 machine guns.

-People can breathe without assistance at 20,000 feet for long periods of time.

-The Abrams tank can fly.

-The standard .50cal mount has an ROF of 5000 rounds per minute.

-The M1 is capable of landing in the middle of a lake, sink to the bottom, and then drive out under it's own power.

-A single LAW rocket impacting 20 feet above the water line on the bow of a container ship can sink the whole ship in 1 minute.
^^^^^ This part of the movie literally had me groaning out loud at the stupidity of it. A single LAW rocket hits the bow of this ship and blows up the whole freaking thing, I mean the damn ship SPLITS IN TWO.

Overall I give the movie a 6/10. The story is good, however, the sheer unbelievability of some of the parts really kills it. If you do watch it don't pay alot and expect to see alot of stuff that will just make your eyes roll. Oh and there is some language so leave the kids at home.

This is Idiotwood that made the movie.  What did you expect, 'reality".

Uhm... it's the A-Team!

I don't recall the TV series being the pinnacle of realism either ;)

It had always been that way... I would have been very surprised if they would have changed that cheesy cartoon action approach.

Granted I never got to see the A-Team when I was growing up so I guess I'm kinda biased. A Co-worker who watched it with me said it was great and loved it, however, he had seen almost every A-Team episode ever made.

I guess since I'm on the outside looking in the movie seems silly, but if you grew up with the A-Team then you'd probably love it.

ooh, you forgot to mention a guy jumps out of a building, opens his parachute and then a helicopter picks him up by snagging his chute.

and my favorite, C-130 blows up, Tank freefalls then chute opens, drones attack, someone gets on the 50 cal gunners seat and shoots the drones, and the drone leave a dramatic explosion

Hehe.

I remember watching the tv show as a kid and my dad always called them "bad shots", they never could hit anyone with their rifles (Ruger Mini-14's, AR15's, etc).

No one ever died?  No one was ever even shot IIRC.

Lots of lead flying... around.

Well, the did get it right with the inaccuracy of the Mini-14's!  That's probably why nobody ever died in the TV show!   :lol

Whoa, people actually go to movies expecting realism?  Hehe.  Not me!  I lubs a good farce.  Gimme, gimme!

I get enough reality everyday.  A little distraction is good for the Skuz.

Or because the good guys deliberately missed, and the bad guys all had a degree from The Imperial Stormtrooper School of Marksmanship.   :noid

Depends on the film, one like Pearl Harbor I would hope Idiotwood would do a decent job in recreating the events of one worst attacks in US history. Other films I know not to expect to much and just take it like it is.

Skuzzy I don't expect realism to much, however, there is a point when the stupidness in a move reaches a level where I cannot bare it anymore. I will bump up my rating of the movie to an 8/10 though after seeing a few clips of the show. Apparently the movie does stay in line with the rest of the show and thus deserves a better rating.  :D

Oh and yes, there are plenty of scenes of cars being hit by 1 bullet and flipping into the air.  :rofl

True!

Maybe they were trying to shoot around them, like you would do at a fair, shooting around the red star with the toy Thomson BB guns and winning a prize.  :)

In the TV show the A-Team was really lucky to be chased by a group of government agents that were even crappier shots than they were.

best parts of the series include

after seeing the bad guys car flip, roll and slide in the same old manner, you always had to cut to a shot of them exiting the wreck shaking their heads

someone always getting thrown over the top of the cameraman.

always trapped in a room with oxy-acetylene torches, scrap metal, some kind of broken vehicle and a sprung bed frame

good times

lol so true! :D

The series had other kinds of surrealism. Over the top Hollywood action silliness can be a lot of fun if the movie itself does not take it too seriously. I did not see the film.

Just more proof that simulation game players will whine about anything just because it isn't 100% perfect.
