Title: getting tired of all these updates that dont do anything cool
Post by: the4ork on June 11, 2010, 01:09:47 AM
every day when i log on is a new dang update, and im all excited to check the site to see whats updated...

and its just stupid pointless crap, like wind noise, and full window or not....

how about adding some new planes to the WW1 arena?

or at least make something worthwhile! i enjoy the fact that HTC is working dilligently to make the game run as smooth as possible, but it is disappointing, none of the "fixes" are things i even notice. and today it the patch seems to do the same thing as the patch yesterday, or they didnt put on the site what was fixed this time

They are called bugs, they fix bugs.

Getting tired of malcontents who drop their pacifiers out of their mouths. Life is too short for such frivolous emotion

Every patch changes the coad. Every time you change the coad you create bugs you don't know you've created.

So every patch has to go fix the problems that its created.

They are bug fixes, it isn't that big a deal, they don't take that long to download and install.

Its the price you pay for flying someplace that is alive, vibrant, and growing, unlike FA which is dieing in a few months.

How'd you like to be one of those guys?

So suck it up and deal with it.

A guy who would complain if you got him laid?  :D

Sure, but only after he'd gleefully sausage-stuffed every orifice offered.

This reminds me of a little story. Once, a long time ago, when I was young and life was blurry (I think it was called the 80's) I took this somewhat dimwitted but good-looking girlfriend to some crap film she'd recommended. It was a women's prison film - a genuine rarity in that era. For some reason, at this point I'm wondering if I'm confusing it with Sean Penn's "Bad Boys" or it isn't one and the same. I'm inclined to think the latter, since I think there was a tiny and forgettable flowering of efforts in the genre at the time.

Now, this is not to say that prison films are bad. Consider "Cool Hand Luke" - recently re-released. I watched it in HD not more than a year ago and the film is still searching, fearless, and extremely compelling. That the quality of the story is paralleled by the quality of the cast just ensures a place in the Pantheon of greats for the film. I also think it appropriate here to wish RIPs to both Hopper and Newman.

In any case, Debbie and I watched this rather sappy women's prison film together. I found the film overall to be much like Debbie herself; the ability of the film to titillate was undiminished by the toal vacuity of the film. Further, it was quite clear watching the film that here was another creation headed for the oblivion of all other such forgotten and valueless works. I predicted the ending some time within the first hour and sat back to enjoy a combination of buzzes.

I make mention of the film's ability to titillate. Indeed, I think that's generally what women's prison films are about. Some of you who are familiar with Brett Easton Ellis will recall that the protagonist in American Psycho was quite fond of a film called "Shemale Reformatory". To my mind, that's more or less emblematic of the genre, so long as you figure a chick with yarbles is more or less a chick (provided she's got the other bits right and dependent on positioning, if you follow - not that I've ever tried any such thing) and that a reformatory also features as an analogous playground for the power-luster.

This all impinges on my extension of the analogy. In the film, you see, there's a split scene in which one plot development (can't remember what) is interspliced with a fairly ugly scene in which a male prison guarding is "making love" to a female prisoner. They'd cut from one scene to the other. As the dual-scene progresses, the male guard goes about the business of a really beast-"makeloving" this raggy prison-chick, getting nearer and nearer to culminating his self-serving conquest of the hapless female prisoner. At the end, he squeals like a mouse a couple of time, fires his 30 cals, and peels himself off of the shabby doll of a prisoner.

As he pulls up his cop-pants and prepares to quit the room, he turns back to the prisoner, still lying spread-eagled on the concrete floor and says, "you're the worst f*** I've ever had."

Judging by the look on the prisoner's face, she didn't seem to take his critique seriously.

To my mind though, that statement really made the scene. If you're going to go porcine, you want to do it big and unabashedly.

I get your point, and I agree with it.  I've always said much the same thing, though in a different way.

Also, I totally agree with you on the Cool Hand Luke, one of my all time favorite films.  Everything about it is just perfect, and it had Harry Dean Stanton!

The O/P obviously has very little idea just how big in scope the AH realm is.

While I too question the certain aspect of the development and progress of AH, it is not my business to run and I'm thankful for what we've got.

Relax.   ;)

i thought the ability to choose which planes you practice against offline was pretty cool.

Oh, ye of little patience. First, appreciate the fact you are able to log in and play.

Second, get a clue as to what it takes to program code for a game of this scale.

This is not an "I want what I want when I want it" environment like so many kids would expect it to be.

A lot of people ripped the tire noise effect. I thought that was cool. It really helps give you that feel for rolling down the runway. It would be really neat to have a vibration booth and a vibe track that'd give you the buzz of the ac. Consider the extra work required to get the vibe "signature of a given ac at a given condition... hmm. Yet another pile-on that'd slow down new ac intros...

I'm sure some pervert would abuse it but, hey, as long as I don't have to clean up somebody else's cockpit I guess I don't care.

I want more, too, of course. However, this is the best game in town so we've got to bear with. Besides, for fideen bux a month, you can't beat the entertainment value. I say that during a month when I've had little time to actually play.

Look out. He identifies Superfly as a sharter.

Ten bux says that he was trying to show off when it happened. We had a 50-year old man showing off in the office back when I was with Komatsu. On his third one, he did the same thing and had to calf-walk to the john.

We were good swells about it though. When he came back I told him, "don't you worry about anything, Elmer. You're not the first grown man to s**t his pants in the office". For some reason, that didn't seem to make him feel any better.

im not trying to complain about the bug fixes, im just simply saying its dissapointing to get all excited about a new update to find its only just bug fixes... like 8 times in a row :(

im dilligently waiting for an update in the ww1 arena, i love it, and i think with some updating more people would play in it, which is its biggest downfall right now. gotta get on early in the night and hope theirs a handfull of pilots in there to fly with  :salute

i thought i made that a little more clear, but just to clarify again...

Maybe, but I've got it on good advice that you should NOT use that as an excuse to start a thread inciting others to berate the complainer.

For background, I did a little experiment based off a locked thread that had turned into a rag-fest against a well-known AH player. Once that thread locked down, I started a new one asking others to continue their creative musings on the nature of the player in question. skuzzy waded in with the warnings all around.

It's not bad.  I've eaten at Osihi a few times. No tummy problems - I usually go for the tempura. :D

Remember, a complaint is someone telling you something ain't right because they care enough about something to voice their concerns.  And that only occurs in 1 out of 10 unhappy clients.  So if someone is complaining at your service desk, take an ear to what exactly they're complaining about.  Chances are, its just poor communication and mismatched expectations.

"I.e. I expect the widget to work when I open the box.  The widget didn't work and I had to waste more of my time, get back into my car, drive over to your store, because you can't sell stuff that works right."

Could HiTech do more to communicate?  Depends on the expectations they wish to set.  I think they've set the right balance.

Nooooo! Me so sorry. Can I reiterate the part about having Fonzie as a desk assistant who goes "aaaaay" then jumps the shark on a vintage Triumph? I tried so hard to keep it impersonal.
