Title: Upgrading to new MB and CPU but need some help

A buddy of mine gave me a new MB and CPU (PII 266 O/C'd to 300), and i was wondering, can i just swap everything over to the new board, or am i going to have to wipe my HD and re-install windows etc. I'm still waiting on new IDE cables so i have time to play with before i get it set up. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's always a good idea to re-install windows when installing something as major as a different motherboard, but you probably don't HAVE to.  If you can stand the inconvenience, tho', just do it, and enjoy the extra speed from the new processor AND the fresh Windows registry  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Propably you could just change MB and CPU but it could be wise format your HD.
Also check your old bios settings; You might had to chance new MB's settings like old one have.
I format my HD 3-4 times a year; Good way to get rid off junk and clear registry  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Thanks!, I was Hoping to get this thing in quicklike and test it out this weekend, But i guess i should wait until i can get a hold of WIN 98 again, my CD went MIA last month so i haven't been able to do a clean Wipe/Re-install in toooo long. ( i usually do that 3-4 times a year too) Oh well, guess i must learn patience for this   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
