Score: 1-1

I think the U.S.A was pretty lucky to have walked away with a tie. I only saw the last 20-30 minutes of the game but in that time I noticed that england was pretty much dominating the field, and had many more shots on goal. England pretty much outplayed them. I heard something about a goalie screwing up bad, or something similar. Does anyone know what happened? I did not get to see it because of the time I began watching.

Like football? :)

Wow, thats pretty disappointing. I know the english get pretty worked up when one of their players screw up.

I used to know someone who played for an English equivalent of an american triple AAA team. He told me a story of how  he had once scored an own goal by punting the ball behind him. Said the whole stadium was screaming at him.  :D

Yeah England had a goalkeeper make a bad howler a few years ago and never played for the National team after that, Scott Carson. But the other keepers make numerous mistakes, mainly at club level though and it never upsets their careers.

england dominated and cockup by green the goalie clinched our downfall...
good showing from the young pretenders USA, good to see them playing proper football finally
but draw was a result for USA
good match        (wish the score was better)

Our games tend to be a bit more physical here in the colonies. Conquering the wilderness and escaping oppression and all  :D

More physical ?? how can you tell with all of those pads and helmets? Also the players are on and off like a hookers draws, if they had to spend an entire game on the field they would probably want double the money.

yea that is pretty sick video.

All those naysayers in the end footballers only have a pair of shin pads for protection,  No helmets, no padding etc.

When you see a fat bloke playing sunday league football and you have all the skill and touches to make him look really silly and he is charging at you with only one thing on his mind from personal experience you better get the fark outta of his way  ;)

:lol,    well my footballing career highlights  were middle school team captain (under 12's).  Best moment was being 4-1 down on a steep pitch, second half we were downhill and I score the 4-4 equaliser charging in at the near post from a corner volleying into the top corner.  We won 7-4  :rock   I can remember like it was yesterday!

I have got a sweet left foot and was the answer to all of England's left wing problems but Sveno never came calling   :cry  Crossing and passing second only to david beckham!

My poor boys will have one hell of a touchline dad that is for sure  :aok

snap that shin bone right into.

To be a soccer player you have to be in the most unbelieveable shape - I played for a year and couldn't cut it.

I played Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, and Golf and nothing compared to Soccer IMO.

Thankfully through my sporting career although I'm still playing softball I only had to suffer both ankles being cracked and a hyper-extended
Achilles Tendon - 3 month's rehab very painful a whole lot worse then the kidney surgery I had to endure in 07 which left a 20" scare on my
right side from an old internal bleed from a football injury.

Do you guys know after they break that bone if there able to come back and play or does it end there career?

Weird, I thought all your games were about capturing your enemies land and/or stealing their bases.

hmm up until my early thirties I was still playing competitive sports at a reasonably high level. Obviousley I never played American sports because I wasn't here at that age .
As for the players not being on the field for even a majority of the game I stand by that comment.

I am not a soccer fan, but saw the last half of the game by coicidence of being in a spot that was airing it.  I thought the US looked totally outplayed positionally and outclassed by a team that was very much it's superior.  Had it not been for the gaff by the English goalie, it would have been a different story.  That said, the US goalie played phenomenal from what I saw.

I'm a little late to this thread but who cares :). I thought it was a good game. I was scared in the first 5 minutes when the US couldn't hold any possesion and looked scared out of their wits. They held on though and had some good patches throughout the game (wishing for some more consistency). I was especially suprised at the job that Cherundolo did against Milner and Wright-Phillips.  I thought both would have their way with him. That said Glen Johnson? (the right back) moved down his side anytime he pleased. We were very lucky he couldn't convert any of his opportunities. Finally, I'd just like to see a little better strike partner for Altidore. I wasn't too keen on either of the two dudes that played with him.

good spot on glen johnson.  He gets an awful lot of stick from england fans for not being a good enough defender.  I however believe he is one of the best right backs in the tournament.  When he does attacking runs and puts the ball in the back of the net  (see his goal against mexico in the warm up friendly 3:23) i don't hear no moaning from the fans then  :aok.  He learn't all he knows at fratton park and I was sad to see him go but we needed the cash.

The US Goalie took a cleat to the chest early in the first half. They thought he fractured a rib. Turns out he broke his rib, but continued to play very well.
