I was wondering how people felt about the rogue nation of North Korea?I believe they get away with all their crap because Red China is their big, bad friend. This Torpedoing of a South Korean warship is going to cause major problems.North Korea has threatened war if the UN security counsel finds them guilty of any wrong doing. It would seem appropriate for the counsel to call their bluff, but knowing North Korea, they just might do what they say,and start a war.My concern is,you can't win a war on the Asian mainland, and nukes would probably get involved eventually. We lost in Viet Nam because we didn't want to step on Red China or Russia's toes.Actually this comes down to money.Don't we owe China something like 7 trillion dollars. They might think twice before helping North Korea with that much money riding on it.My other concern is that even though South Korea's armed forces are very good, the U.S. has a small amount of troops there, and it would probably be a re-run of the first Korean conflict.Comments, ideas all welcome.

Step 1. S. Korea camoflauges their boats to look like those of the Chinese Navy.
Step 2. Let China get involved or even oversee the political circus that will be unraveling into an unproductive political stalemate.
Step 3. Let N. Korea keep torpedoing a couple more of S. Korea's boats.
Step 4. N. Korea accidently torpedos a Chinese warship.
Step 5. Sit back and watch the fireworks.
Step 6. IN

From what I recently saw on the History Channel, the first Japanese A-bomb was largely designed and manufactured in North Korea. And during the last days of the war Japan, supposedly, tested an A-bomb prototype.
According to that History Channel episode (and my memory) the Russians destroyed and/or moved everything associated with the A-bomb construction post WWII. This would explain how they got the technology so fast. Also, this may be why North Korea will be off limits for a long time. None of the larger nations including Russia, Japan, and USA want this to be known, hence, why North Korea is such a secluded country.
Is any of this making any sense?
Reasons for each nation to keep this information suppressed, assuming it is true. This is my opinion after watching the History Channel’s episode about Japan’s A-bomb.
1. Russia - No need to brag about stealing the A-bomb technology.
2. Japan - Wouldn't have a leg to stand on if the world new they would have easily used it on the USA if WWII didn’t end when it did.
3. USA – Oops, we shouldn’t have allowed Russia to occupy North Korea after WWII, my (the USA treaty designers) mistake.
PS I think the episode was on the History Channel, but not entirely sure.

Actually this comes down to money.Don't we owe China something like 7 trillion dollars.
This might explain why the US is running security for them IN Afghanistan.
-
North Korea has been provoking the south for many years. At the same time I don't think any of the major powers or South Korea want another war. I also don't think North Korea wants another war. This statement is made of my opninion.
This is the only statment I will make IN this thread, to borderline with politics. ;)

China doesn't own that much of our debt.
edit: Of our ~13 trillion dollar debt only 3.7 trillion of it is owned by foreign nations. Just under a quarter of that debt is owned by china, with another 20 percent belonging to Japan. The rest is scattered in ~6% and lower portions between various nations such as the UK, Brazil, and Russia.
Everyone likes to blow it way out of proportion though.

Just to let you know, it's a rule 14 violation. I should know, I got banned for it. :D
That being said, you apologized so that could carry some weight with Super Skuz. :headscratch:
But at least you have guts for bringing up a grown-up discussion as many here would rather cry foul than think.

With a possible 2nd Korean War on my mind now (from what I heard, I think it could happen)... I went to see my grandfather's grave today with my dad, aunt, and cousin for Father's Day. So if North Korea keeps up their crap, do you guys think a second war could happen?
