Title: Ship killing points
Post by: Draggon on June 17, 2010, 02:16:36 AM
I think I'm not the only one that feels that when you are able to sink an enemy CV, either from the air or from ship to ship or even from the shore battery, you should get points for it. I know everyone at some time has spent a long time shooting at a ship to finally sink it, but you get nothing for your effort. My wish is either get damage points for your hits or kill points for sinking a ship...... Just a suggestion.   :airplane:

You get perks for each emplacement destroyed, as well as "ship destroyed".

Yep. Except from a gun emplacement. That doesn't getcha squat score-wise.

 No risk... no reward.

damage points are counted in ship/field gun score, are you saying specifically damage to ships isnt included?

damage points are counted in ship/field gun score

Which is shown only on arnea score clipboard, but beyond that it has no influence on score/rank/perks whatsoever.

why not get into gunnery ranking then? :D

but on a serious note i'd like to see a way of making people use the quads and single .50s more often and the side 5" on the CVs than poppin into the twin 5s first. let the "experienced" gunners rank up to allow them to use the heavier guns. 8" guns are the only exception possibly for this

helpful hint.. when cv's get crazy close (within 5k of each other), the quad 40 is the gun to use. cv down in about 30 seconds of sustained fire, support ships go down in 5-10 seconds it seems. of course the quad 40 also works great for the flotilla of ptboats that will soon spawn after the game of cv chicken, and rarely does either cv make it out alive, but the quad 40 will make it all be over sooner  :aok

but none of these targets are aircraft which the quad was mainly meant for in the first place

Perhaps, but main tank guns weren't made for killing low level strafers either.

Poor IL2's  :lol

I think you all have it wrong.............

I believe the Op wants people to get "half credit" in damage points from the CV itself.  Forget the guns, but rather dividing up the total damage value of the "ship destroyed."

In which case, I say no.

Were Lancs meant to dive from 15K on CV's and C-47's meant to park on the country side? :)

Curious, when I talked to Roy at High tech he said there was no points given for ships destroyed. So if that's the case how can you say they are?  Even if they were given, it would be nice to see it come over the text that so and so sunk X amount of ships and the damage points shown. After someone has spent 30 min or more destroying a Carrier group, it would be nice to see there efforts posted don't you think? again just a suggestion.

Mind a question that is going to sound......  like everything else I say?

Did it ever occur to you that Skuzzy decided to pull your leg and wondered exactly what I'm wondering now, why the heck would you call them about something that you can easily find out yourself in game?  You get perks, and you get damage point values, and it isn't hard to find this out at all.

He wasn't.

The OP is talking about sinking CV's by ship gunfire.

And you don't get anything for that.
