My son who my wife and I never thought had a grateful/thoughtful bone in his body did something great today. He got me to apologize to him in front of someone for fussing at him. He put my name into a drawing at his orthodontists office for a $100 Bass Pro Shops gift card and my name was pulled.
Anyway his mother called me and said that they needed him urgently this morning at the orthodontists office to recheck something on the last x-rays. He was just sitting there and he knew what was up...so I lit into him about not getting ready to move quickly so we could go fast...after all they did say urgently!
I also got a micro tool set from my other two kids to work on some models that I am currently building and a new home theater setup custom installed in the new house from the wife. Talk about a nice weekend already.

A day of peace and quiet would be nice.... doubtful it will happen though.

I just installed motion sensor flood lights on the front of the garage. I need the wife and kids to go out and run back and forth under them so I can enjoy them now. :D
I don't know what they plan to get me, but it can't be as cool as the flood lights I got for myself. :x

The wife has been asking questions about the Ipad.
Maybe, ill keep my fingers crossed. :D

I'm going fishing. Plan to be on lake before daybreak to pound the bass, and maybe try to raise a musky or two.
A good gift would be for the wife to not ruin my fishing trip.

I got 10 cubic yards of that; 2000 bricks;8 10 foot long railroad ties; 4 cubic yards of crushed stone and 4 cubic yards of sand for last Christmas, last years birthday, last years anniversary, this years valentines day and easter. My wife got 2 pallets of Z52 Zoysia and a crap load of full sun and drought resistant plants to put in the back yard for her birthday, anniversary, and Christmas.

My kids got me to take them fishing. yes i had to pay for the boat ride, fishing license, rod rental and also have to buy their beer, and I have to pick them up and drive them home. all 3 of them live in different places. but I am not complaining, think is gonna be one hell of a father's day present to spend the day with them, even if i paid for it   .

NEWSFLASH
The wife read my last post and is so angry that I am no longer invited to the In-Laws and now have to stay home alone all weekend with just the footie and AH for company.
Best Fathers Day ever? I think so!

:lol
you got to be careful what you say, sometimes I check the forum on my g/f's netbook while in the lounge. I have accidentally left it logged in and she has posted under my name and called me all sorts of things in our private forum after some adult conversations! . Thankfully I can moderate that forum and I haven't made that schoolboy error again.
Still she knows where to hunt me down. :uhoh

You two are just a pair of hopeless romantics :rofl

For me having been divorced for many years and having 2 adult kids , if I get a phone call from each of them I'd be stoked ! It may not seem like much for a lot of guys but it sure would make my day .
Nutte

Similar here nutte, a phone call from my son who I haven't seen for 14 years would be heaven.
-
Damn Nutte and xbrit...I am glad that mine are still around and things like that bring it back into perspective for many of us.
Rino...its the things we get to do AFTER we have done all that work that make us the HOPELESS ROMANTICS!
-
Nothing. I'm not a father and lets just say the marriage boat has been torpedoed and hulled.
-
My fishing trip got tanked....buddy isn't feeling well. Now I must use "plan B", which is stay up really late playing "that stupid game" and sleeping in. Just have to up in time for my grandfather's birthday party/father's day dinner at my grandparents house.
-
I hate that for your day on the water man. I get to go back to painting and hanging molding in the new house. Mind you this is a different one than the one that we put all the yard work into just to have a nicer back yard.

My daughter "got" (iactually paid for it but she is 10 so...) me an R/C F-14 Electric Ducted Fan.. not real big but it is pretty neat, 48" wingspan with the wings out, and has functional in-flight swing wings, and retractable landing gear.. should be good for about 125mph.. Plus the uniqueness of the swing wing. yes, I picked it out lol.. she told me to "Pick and airplane and get it" (probably my wifes idea) So I did!
Spent most of the day today out at the R/C Field with my dad, and then spending this late afternoon/eve with my daughter and wife.. all in all a good pappy's day...
