Title: Blackout bug
Post by: Dr_Death8 on June 25, 2010, 11:52:51 AM
been noticing that since the last few patches, whenever I 'blackout" due to pulling too many Gs, there seems to be a 3-4mm around my screen that is not turning black.  I am not having any graphics issues other than this, and it is not interfering with anything, just noticed it and thought I would post it.  I am running 1440x900 resolution with the 1024 hi res textures.  I will post the DX Diag once I get home if needed. Will try to get a screenie tonight. I mainly fly the 110/P47s/P51D/Typhoon, and I have noticed it in every plane reguardless of the map. (Haven't been able to duplicate it in a GV though ).  :salute

Maybe not related to your issue, but is 1440X900 your monitors native resolution?  If not, try setting it to the native resolution, and if your video can't handle it, drop down to 512 textures.  I'd be willing to bet your picture quality would be better in that case.

I can see maybe one row of pixels on the edges that aren't black during a black out... but you really have to look for it to notice it.

I have the same thing.  I'll post a dxdiag if needed.

Do you have anti-aliasing on?  I think that might be the culprit (although I may be completely wrong).  In AH anti-aliasing causes a 1 pixel shift on the texture.  You'll maybe notice that the mouse pointer has a line off to one side due to the line of pixels on the left side being shifted over and wrapping around to the other side of the texture.  We haven't got a fix for it unfortunately.

I noticed that too when anti aliasing is on!  it is noticeable when pulling G's and blacking out.

We haven't got a fix for it unfortunately.

Does that mean it is impossible to fix?

Wow... I learn something new everyday!  Yes AA is in fact on.  I always wondered about the cursor line.. now it makes sense.  Like I said, it's no biggie and definitely doesn't affect gameplay.  I wouldn't have even mentioned it if someone else hadn't already brought it up.

I don't think it's impossible to fix, just very low on the totem pole of things to fix, as it is just a minor annoyance and doesn't effect gameplay.

I have the same 'problem'...use it to your advantage. You can tell ground from sky...so you can pull up. :)

Sorry, was on vacation for a few days and just got back on. It was the AA being on. Like I said, just noticed it but didn't really effect anything. Thx.  :salute

P.S.- 1440x900 is the screens native resolution.
