Title: The World Cup is fixed.
Post by: saggs on June 27, 2010, 02:35:01 PM
 :noid

With so many game changing huge blown calls so far, and with FIFA refusing to use any kind of goal line or video review technology at all, it's really the most rational explanation I can come up with.

I really wanted to get into it and enjoy the WC, but so far the HORRIBLE officiating, with NO oversight to check it, has pretty much ruined my experience.  That blown offside goal call with MEX v ARG was the last straw for me.  :furious

I'm a WC newb but its seems as its pretty flawed. refs missing a lot of calls, bad goals, they need replay. And what's with everytime a player goes down, they are clutching the only part of there body with any protection? Lol, lot of actors out there. Officiating is t3h suk

lol even the commentators said that the Argentine players are taking way to long to get up after every fall..they do it so they could get a foul kick .Just pansy playing...

That's what I hate most about this sport. Do they realize how wussy they look when they fake it like that? Do they not even care?

Take like a man for crying out loud.

Yea they notice...and don't really care. They do it for the free kicks and to slow the game down a bit so the team can get a small break and regroup.

Yeah, I'd say it's broken rather than fixed  :D   But I knew I couldn't stand FIFA refs before it started
so I really have nothing to cry about.

Maybe FIFA should pay the refs more than the coaches do...  :noid

I was watching a baseball game today and the announcers were saying what good actors the WC players were.

The actors on the field are starting to get really old.  In OT Ghana vs USA, I was just sickened of how many times the Ghana players were going down faking injuries just to waste time.

Argentina vs Mexico was no different.  Players going down acting as if they were seriously injured and holding parts on their body such as their face when it didnt even get touched.

Just getting too old, maybe they should try out for a role in Hollywood.

These games are the center of attention for every country in the world, and if you can give your team an advantage at the expense of some masculinity, 9 out of 10 times they will roll on the ground howling for an hour if they could.

at least diving is a bookable offence these days. I'd like to see more retrospective punishments for diving where vid evidence is available and its clearcut. a month's salary fine for bringing the game into disrepute would be a start. was watching my nephew playing (age 6) and there were players diving in their game, I was stunned. they see ronaldo doing it on tv and think its ok ...

A RED card instead of a YELLOW card would put a quick end to any diving.

6 yr olds diving :( :( :( :( :(

When a free kick is awarded, they should put it on a 20 second play clock, if the kick isn't taken within that time, the ball is live for either team.

They are 'screaming in pain' but are up 3 seconds later kicking a free kick. Also like in the American vs Ghana game, near the end that guy went down on his own. Got carted off the field and as soon as he got off was walking around perfectly fine...

They need IR.

The reason why they fall over so much holding knees etc, is to try and get a free kick. which is a shame....now Rugby is a real mans sport..none of this nancy boy stuff tip toeing around the pitch

My thoughts exactly while watching the USA - Ghana match.  Who was the nancy-boy in one of the threads here last week saying our American football players are pansys for wearing pads (to help prevent breaking the collar bone during a full-force tackle)?  It was the only thought giving me a smile while watching Saturday's match.

In Rugby we do not wear any pads :D I have head my head tread on, my ribs kicked/stamped on..and also the reason why I can barely run a mile now  :lol I never wore a gum shield either, I'm 6ft 4", weighed 106kg but played inside/outside centre/winger I was very quick.

In defence of one of our favorite sports, I've never played a game of (american) football with my friends at the park with pads on either, just tennis shoes shorts and a t-shirt, you pretty much only put on equipment if it's an organized league (and thus an organization that could be held liable for expencive injuries).  I got weak knees these days due to having them dislocated too many times while playing (I'm 6'5", 280 pounds... when a normal-sized person was faced with having to tackle me properly in near sure suicide, why not go full-force on my legs/knees, amirite?) and while I'm sure all my computer use has yet to catch up with my finger joints I still get aches in my knuckes sometimes that were on some fingers that unfortunatley had a bad hold on recieving a very fast pass.  Plenty of blood spilled too, usually from a damned sprinkler/irrigation head.

Ive always wanted to play American Football, but never had the chance...it sure looks fun...although I have tried to throw the ball, which I can not throw at all. In Afghanistan some of the US Army guys played a game of touch rugby with us, but I never managed to get a game of football.

When I was in London couple weeks ago, I was asked if I played American football.  Im sized at 6'1" and 265, said yea for college.

Couple rugby guys at the pub I went to said they had lot respect for American football and watch it when the NFL comes to London.  They said that you Americans that play that are much bigger and faster than those that play rugby.

Don't feel bad, I'd be one of the last here to try and show or teach you a good throw, it takes a unique grip for it's unique shape and a good spin put on the ball to have it go anywhere near where you want it to... which you need to know to apreciate a sharp-shooting quarterback as more than the guy who apears to do the least amount of work on the field.  Throw some rain, snow and mud into the mix to make catching the thing almost as hard as throwing it, toss in a few guys crossbred with bulls and elephants trying to knock each other off their feet, and you got yourself a recipie for a classic american sporting experience.

Only thing a flop gets you in rugby is raked.  I thought football was rough until I played rugby for WVU.  Hardest I ever got hit was by my opposite from Navy. Felt like a semi hit me.

The hardest I got hit was back in high school during camp.  Went away for the weekend with another school in CT.  1v1 I beat this kid 3-0 but in full offense vs defense wasnt really expecting it.  He backed up an extra couple yards and ran full speed at me as I was trying to pass block him.  Kid was 6'4"-6'5" and 375lbs and only 14 years old.  That felt like a freight train.

Except it's hardcore, because you've got no pads and you have to kick the ball.
