Title: could it happen?
Post by: Wildcat1 on June 28, 2010, 11:25:48 PM
i know i'm going to get the good ole "see rule #14" for this, but hopefully a few people can see this before that happens (please skuzzy! :pray :lol)

anywho..... i think with the recent news of the capture of Russian agents, war with the ruskies is again a possibility, even if it's slight. i know that the president of the RF met w/ pres. obama about strengthening ties with the US, but honestly i think it is all a joke, especially with this new find.... i honestly think conflict between the two is inevitable, my question is, where? in Russia? the Middle East? Eastern Europe? even here, in the US?

My guess is that our president is basically IN agreement with our Russian comrades on most principals.  So war with Russia unlikely.

"In" merely means you've managed to post in a forum thread before Skuzzy or some other forum moderator has locked it for one reason or an other. It's usually just a way to call out a tasteless thread or one that is almost guaranteed to get locked.

Oh and IN.

when we see a thread that we suspect may be locked, for whatever reason, we find ways to work "in" into something before it's locked....thus being in before the thread is locked, preventing anyone else from getting in on it.

kinda silly really............but fun at  the same time.

Reading the article, it doesn't sound like anything really unusual. Pretty broad net (heck, some of it sounds like stuff they could pick up from CNN  ). You can almost be certain we have agents in Russia doing the same thing back.

I think calling this a sign of coming war is WAY premature and paranoid.

Hell I have a slight paranoia problem and even that makes me chuckle a little bit.  Of course some people will prepare for anything just IN case.

If you are talking about those Russian agents in here then the plan is working. Now you are not watching news of the Gulf oil spill or the Kagan hearings or Cap and Tax or many more important things the anointed one's regime is trying to hustle past us tax paying citizens. Ask yourself why suddenly the need to bust a group of Russian agents that have been known about for a very long time right after making nice with the president of Russia all over the news just before going into the G20 with him? Obama knew about the agents long before he made nice with the Russian president.

Why throw away that big of a chess piece after the "love in" with the Russian President?

My late Father and mother both retired from NSA as Russian military anylists. My Father was also a USAF SAC Russian linguist during the Cold War translating radio chatter to determin launch windows for U2's and RB57's out of Peshawar Pakistan in the early 60's. Used to be we quietly captured Russian agents then talked to Russia via back channels and negotiated with them.

Why suddenly does Obama need to slap Russia in this manner?

In contrast the accusations against the Russians are rather vague. We are told they were looking at gold trading, something that is actually legal to do.
This story feels weird and it looks like Obama wanted to put Russia on the defensive, which means that whatever Obama and Medvedev talked about in their meeting, it did not go well for Obama.

This is Obama's squeak-slap back at Medvedev.

wow, really? strange....

if that's true, i dont know why obama would escalate this, he seems like he doesnt like anything to do with the military

really? they look pretty specific to me.

radiograms and long communications direct with moscow centre, indirect comms using steganography.

brush-passes, ad-hoc wireless networks, secret meetings with the ever-popular "didnt we meet in ..." confirmation exchanges with known russian agents.

dead letterboxes, fake passports, false identities, large amounts of unaccounted cash etc etc etc.

this is classic "berlin rules" stuff. what surprises me is that anyone imagines that this activity ever stopped.

I don't think this will lead anywhere but you never know with politics.

Crazier stuff has happened before, I suppose.
