it work well , just no way to reinstal direct X on it and bye bye Dos definitely

I've had it going for about a month now with no problems. MS did move some stuff around though so you'll find yourself searching for settings that aren't where they're supposed to be (mostly networking, dial-up net).
It boots fast, closes faster, and resembles the bastard child of Win 2000 and 98SE.

So... Is it worth the money to upgrade from 98?

Personally, I'd wait until next year when the next version of 2000 comes out. There really aren't many changes worth noting in Windows Me other than the cosmetic stuff.

I have noticed a performance difference with ME's network stack. It is slower than 98SE. Not sure why yet, but there appears to be more overhead with it. This could be good or bad, further looking will tell me.

Using W2K for "hard Work"(lol...) and 98se for gaming in same pc. Once we got a lan-party at my work but damn 98 wouldn't boot. Needed to install Half-Life and couple other games under W2000 and those worked just fine (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

you CAN run real mode DOS in WinME, just dont expect any M$ Tech support after you hack it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
