Title: Upgrade problems
Post by: wizzer on December 15, 2000, 01:25:00 PM
Just put in a new celery 667 and now running nicely at 832  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

The problem is now my Sidewinder Pro is not being found in windoze 98. Reloaded software, no joy. No conflicts in the device manager. It does work if I put it in CH emulation, but obvious problems. Is my stick porked, or is this a software problem? Any useful replys accepted.

Thanks,

wizzer

If it's the older Sidewinder 3d Pro, they had problems with CPUs over 350 Mhz.  There is a patch available to try to help with this, but it isn't always successful.  Try looking at www.microsoft.com/sidewinder (http://www.microsoft.com/sidewinder)  and see if you can find it.

How about deleting the stick software and reinstalling?  OOps saw you did that (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Thanks guys,

Will try the patch, once I get the ISDN up and running. (wizz lives in the sticks)   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I also have a new 3d pro II(USB) under the Christmas tree. May have to get the cat tear into it. Accidentally of course.

PS. The 3d pro I'm using is old. Running it out of the gameport on the soundcard. It ran fine on my Celery 300A OCed to 450.

I use to have a 3d pro and it ALWAYS did that crap, I just st it up as CH flightstick pro, you lose a few buttons but thats better than losing the whole stick IMO

Same problem here and with mates with MS 3D Pro's ... btw : The MS patch doesn't often work  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

I bought a Cel 633 (to crack 1G o/c'ed) and it wont work at any speed  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) ... put my old 300A (o/c @ 504) and it works everytime. Pity I'm kinda attached to my old 3D Pro, same stick I started out in WB's in 97. USB versions dont seem to have a problem...sigh
