Title: Linux x64 version of the game
Post by: Ardy123 on July 02, 2010, 05:58:45 PM
I know this will probably not happen but I would greatly appreciate it if there was a version of AH that worked with Ubuntu x64.

Bbosen put a how to together to get AH to run under Unix. I had success using Wine and Ubuntu - the only downside I came across was finding a Unix driver for my Nvidia card.

Frame rates I had were uppers 40's to 50 (slightly down on what I get now (constant 60 even in big furballs etc))

It can be done, but currently only by using Wine as an emulator.

http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/Why-you-should-use-OpenGL-and-not-DirectX

after reading this...

why AH2 uses directX instead of openGL?

To make linux users cry. :devil

Out of all the possible Engineering reasons, I'm sure this is why DirectX was chosen, must be....

Cool.I tried to configure wine to run aces high couldn't find the file to enable this.My hightech creations folder placed directly on c drive, not in program files. This was where it was installed by default.I noticed that when i saw the files of type, they only listed wine files.Just couldn't direct wine to add hightech creations ----->executable(the one you press to start the game.)
If you are successfully running aces high in ubuntu, could you -please tell me how to set up wine to run it?
Thanks.
