Dungeness Crab in July ???...7 bucks a pound ???
Was at the market today and the fish counter had Dungies...big ones...2 to 3 pounders...bright white on the belly...no fir or yellow tint...heavy and the shells were firm and crackable....
Guy said they were from Oregon...and he had a couple hundred pounds in stock...plus confirmation on another 300 pounds coming in the next few days...
Just put away a 2 pounder with some red wine vinegar, olive oil and garlic and fresh loaf of sour dough....and it was as sweet and good as January crab...
I havn't seen Dungies in July in years...
If your in central California/Bay Area....United Market has top quality crab right now...as good as any you will get in winter...highly recommended...
Hmmmmm

I live 30 miles from Dungeness in Kent, England. The shore cod fishing there for last 2 years has started to get back to what it was years ago.
I bought these 2 from a crab fisherman after a bass trip out of Dover in May. £8 the pair (about $13?). The claws were as big as my hands. The one on the left had been killed by one of his mates! These weren't the biggest in the pot. My boy and I had great fun cracking and picking out the meat - very sweet it was too!
