we had 8 guys go last year,  not as many this time around.   10 spitfires though!!   :O

I heard about it from twitter actually... The Imperial War Museum has a twitter account, They do the "on this day" stuff and various happenings. Here are a few photos I took when I was at the IWM way back in 1985. The quality isn't so hot but you'll get the idea.

Back when I was in the RAF close to where I was stationed were some old hangars that were used to store overspill exhibits for the IWM. Once a year they would open it for display, always made sure to go for that.

I gotta make a trip back over the pond. I had an awesome time. Damn Brits got me pissed almost every night  :cheers:

If you do make it, head for The Eagle in Cambridge. Handy for Duxford, the pub was a favourite drinking hole of many airmen who left their names immortalised in cigarette-lighter smoke on the ceiling - and they had to stand on the shoulders of a willing helper to do it. There's a lot of personal memorabilia on the walls too. It's got atmosphere as well as good beer, you'll love it.

It's on my "to do" list.

Bruv,  The picture of the spit that's getting some prop attention is from the RAF 145 Squadron.  The ship's squadron markings (ZX) is actually from the Polish Fighting Team stationed in Tunisa 1943.  However, in 1943, it was painted in desert camo.  Still, a very nice shot!  You made my day!!!

The last 'Flying Legends' show I attended was in 2003. I was there mainly to see the Royal Navy Historic Flight's Firefly - but it crashed, and I lost a good friend. Here he is:

The Chief and Junior Techs of the Royal Navy Historic Flight, Yeovilton Air Day, 2002.

The Junior Tech was Neil 'Seadog' Rix, an ex-FAA fitter and the youngest-ever member of the Flight. Earlier that year, he gave me a personal guided tour of the Flight's hangar and workshop, during which I got to climb into, out of and around some of my all-time favourite aeroplanes. I later returned the favour by telling him the tales of the aircraft housed in the Fleet Air Arm Museum, when we together toured the facility located on the other side of the airfield. On 13th July 2003, he died in the back seat of his favourite aeroplane, the Flight's Fairey Firefly, when the pilot attempted a roll at too low an airspeed at the Duxford Flying Legends show and failed to pull out in time from the resulting stall. Fleet Air Arm officers and men past and present of all ranks attended his funeral, as did I. A sad loss.

The show was even greater than I thought!
It was a real pleasure seeing/hearing all those Spits taking off together. Too bad the only 109 on site was a Buchon -model

Ask and you will (at least in this case) receive.  I make no guarantees about quality or order, in fact I guarantee that some (if not most) are probably undramatic or of a low quality, but meh :)

EDIT: and some are just plain old duplicates.  oh well.  And the silly website scaled down my pictures o.O
