The Voodoo5 5500's cpu clock(s) are set at 166mhz by default..i can overclock it but i dont have a clue as to how far is too far..how far can i push it and NOT RISK SCREWING IT UP?
-
NOTE:
have raised CS to 175mhz
have gained 4fps in AH (wow!)
no problems yet, going to DL 3dmark and let it run for an hour while i get some EATS and if i dont smell any funk will go higher.

How did you o/clock V5? Is there a utility somewhere?
Thanks

Voodoo 5 is hard to overclock, its hot like h..l even with standard speeds and the boost you gain with oc'ing it is propably not worth of risk of damage your card.

The problem with the v5 is getting both chips to overclock. So while one chip may go to 183 the other may only do 175, so you have to run at 175.
When I had a V5 I used to run it at 183 very stable.
I have good case cooling.

If you really want to go fast with that Voodoo you propably need to throw away those fans/heatsinks, Hone the VSA-circuits 100% straight, put a little silver-paste on those and put couple good heatsinks or Peltier-elements and fans over those VSA's. Thought its propably not worth of work/money :]

im steady t 180mhz now with no probs, i ran 3dmark ALL night last night and it was still doin fine this morn when i got up, so im no gonna push it any further.
I also found a utility that makes it easier to do, i will post in on my websight in a few.
