Windows 7 + AH2 = fail?
-
Only on your end if there's a problem. I run W7 fine with AH and I tab out all the time. A DxDiag and process list would likely figure out the problem.
-
How much do you need?

I have the same problem with my machine and (except for the vid card) it is the same machine Kazaa has.
-
Seems to happen 90% of the time when I tab back in and grab the controls instantly.
If I wait for the game to fully load I only crash 10% of the time.
-
Good oogly, almost a 3K page-file? What did you have running at the time you saved that DxDiag? Should be idle when you run it. If it's 3K idle or during gaming (excluding game) you're gonna have troubles.
-
I never alt-tab out when I'm in bombers, I often come back to find my drones gone. Maybe I'm having a similar issue.

I have vent, skype, msn, game, firefox and music going. My PC can handle it all with ease though as it's a beast gaming machine. Other games never crash when I tab in and out of them.

That's what you know you have open though. How much background crap is going? In the task manager see how many processes are running. I run way too many (45-50) but I know what is running, if it's running it's because of me or because if I shut it down the computer crashes. It may not happen in other games because of coding (compatibility issues), AH isn't coded like game B and game C isn't coded like B, etc. Try finding what's running that doesn't need to be (using Google or here) and see if it helps. One for sure you want off is 'superfetch'. Like I said though, it's not W7 or AH fault since plenty of people run that combo fine (myself included).
-
Thanks for your help mate, is there a list that I can use to determine which processes I should shut down?
-
I know there are things like 'Black Viper (http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm/)' but I've never used it. I did the hard way of Googling everything and seeing if I needed it. If I saw something like "Nvidia Driver" (or ATI for you) clearly I left it running, but things like "Logitech Bluetooth service" I can shut down. Every system will have different things depending on installed programs.
If nothing else, Black Viper will get you on the right course. :)
-
I've had it happen 3 times in the last week, but before that, it was the program had not crashed in ages.
Without going into lots of troubleshooting, the only things I've added were some Critical Windows Updates, so I'm blindly pointing the finger at one of them.

Might want to think about switching Firefox for Chrome also. FF is a bit of a memory hog.
