We need more pilots to join us, flying for the Emperor in the upcoming scenario Philippine Phandango -- a late-war battle in the Philippines. It starts July 31.
It is November, 1944, and MacArthur has returned. With the battle of Leyte Gulf just completed, the Fleet Carrier Task Forces of the US Navy have moved off to hit the northern islands of the Philippines. On Leyte, units of General Kenney's Fifth Air Force and several Navy and Marine squadrons remain to cover the newly gained foothold. The Japanese, intent on reversing the recent tide of battle, have moved several elite aviation units to the Philippines with the start of Operation Sho-Go 1. Both sides are desperate and going all out to win control of the skies and seas of the southern Philippines.
It will be the F4U-1A & D, P-38J & L, P-47D-25, FM-2, B-24J, and B-25C & H, against the N1K2-J, Ki-84, Ki-61, A6M5b, and Ki-67. The whole of the southern Philippine Islands is a battlefield, featuring dogfights in the sky, strategic bombing of targets on the land, and antishipping attacks and ship vs. ship battles at sea.
Please join us for the fight!

Yes, the US zone for Eastern Standard Time (est) and New York falls in that time zone.

Sparrow, we would love to have you play. If you will be there for all frames but one, go ahead and register. If you will miss more than one frame or aren't sure which frames you'll be able to attend, please show up by Show-Up Time (3 pm Eastern) on game day as a "walkon".
A walkon is a person who is not registered but is showing up to play. Walkons have always gotten planes to fly and are assigned to sides and squadrons that need more pilots.

If I am correct, you may register if you only miss one Frame. The Test frame is not part of that rule, IMHO.
You would qualify to register and get your ride, since you are available and can commit to 2nd,3rd and 4th frames.
We would love to have you!!

How long do these scenarios run for? When I log in will I have to set aside 1-2-3 hrs?

How long do these scenarios run for? When I log in will I have to set aside 1-2-3 hrs?
Excellent question and very valid.
Honestly, the rules ask that folks show by 3PM est. There is truly a bit of mass confusion, initially, getting folks in uniforms (squads) and getting walkon pilots sent to fill vacant slots on each side. (Usually sent to a Rook field to wait to be assigned, as needed) Then once all are settled and assigned to their groups, the doors are locked, and we begin. (Usually by 3:30pm est)
The frame will last 3 hours from that start time. 3 1/2 hours is more realistic. 3PM to 6:30PM.
These events are based on real battles and WWII actions. You will have 2 lives during the event in the plane you have chosen or been assigned to, if you are a walkon. Then we ask that folks become gunners to help protect bases, ships, bombers etc.
"Dates and Times
Show-Up Time for this scenario is 3 pm Eastern Time (3 pm New York, USA time) in the Special Events II arena. You can use this time converter to find the correct time in your time zone. Frame dates are as follows."
listed here:
http://www.ahevents.org/images/stories/scenarios_images/201007_philippinePhandango/rules.html
The actual dates are:
Saturday July 31st Test Frame
Saturday August 7th Frame One
Saturday August 14th Frame Two
Saturday August 21st Frame Three
Saturday August 28th Frame Four
http://www.ahevents.org/scenario-registration.html
Hope that helps and answers your question. Please take a look at flying with us. To Register, we ask that you be available all frames, but missing only one is still acceptable to register.
These are addictive, and there is no cure! We would love to have you join the groups of your choice and plane of your choice. Axis would be greatly appreciated. :aok

The quick answer is 4 hours.
Show up at or before Show-Up Time (3 pm Eastern, which is when the arena is locked to new admittance)
30 minutes for briefing and organization.
3 hours of fighting.
30 minutes to land.
total = 4 hours
-
Oh yeah, forgot the 30 minutes to land. Sorry!
