I've never been able to, except briefly, once befor patch u,, 1.06 came out to get the in-game j/s selection and jsmapping to recognize buttons 7 and 8 on the stick.
anyone have this stick, and have it being recognized properly in js selection (mine shows as MS Force feedback, not FFB2 - and the stick is actually an exact clone of the precision pro, but with feedback effects) as well as having buttons 7 and 8 functional?

I have the FFB 2, all the buttons seem to work fine on mine. Regardless, all you would have to do is use the sidewinder software that came with the stick and map keyboard buttons to those 7 & 8 buttons on the stick that do what you want. (For example, in the software, map the "p" key to button 7 for wep.)

I had the same problem when I was running Win98se. I used the Microsoft recorder software for the stick on buttons 7 and 8 only, and that worked ok for me.For some reason I had to reapply the settings every so often. Not sure why. Hope that helps you.

thx guys this seems to have done the trick... will see if things seem ok or start to weird out.

I picked up a ms ffb2 yesterday to see how it'd be. I have it tied into my X45 throttle and CH USB Pro Peds. Don't know if I like it enought to keep it, too early to tell.
What settings do you guys have your ff set to in the jstick setup? Are those the only things you have ff on? I was hoping to feel the wheels on landing, the chute opening up, and things like that ...
Do you guys have to calibrate alot?
thanks for any info

i generally calibrate (in game) almost everyday... whether it's needed or not i dunno, probably just a placebo effect.
when i first got it, i used all the ff effects and found trim effects to be the most annoying and having to "fight".
as it stands now, i only use stall and buffet effects - both around 65% since i don't fly with sound and this setup greatly assists in riding the edge (in my usual pony that thinks it's a spit.)
you may wanna up the deadbands and dampers on rudder to prevent the twisty stick from fuzting too much with you when you're turning.
i generally like this stick.
