Title: Capturing A Feild
Post by: bustr on July 23, 2010, 01:39:01 AM
The new Town is incredabley realistic. I can find the new capture the flag, flag poll. But, how much of the new town has to be destroyed before troops can take it. It looks like a real European WW2 French town. Laberanth of alleys and roads. I cannot find any auto ack offline. I can see the texture mask for the town object and it more realisticly follows the terrain and roads. How do you take then new town?

Same as ever.

Check out the street names.   :D

Signs lead the way to the "Town Headquarters", the map room.

Where did the ack go?

Might need a few more bombs than before. Some of those buildings are pretty scattered.

Also town buildings no longer seem to be as vulnerable to gunfire as they used to be.
I suspect osti or wirbles killing town buildings are a thing of the past.

The new town is going to be tougher to take down because it's so spread out. Bombers should be able to take the town center down effectively, but the buildings on the outskirts will be more difficult. Recon to see if the town is fully down will also be more difficult.

No auto acks at town?

The Bureau of Aerial Defense was waiting on proper zoning request to be approved by the town council. Those request have been approved and construction of said AA emplacements shall begin shortly.

we took down a couple of towns last night, finding the last few buildings is tough!
I also wondered, what is to stop the re-take now that there are no guns? is someone gonna have to safe guard against this by staying with the town till it pops?
not a problem  just a question!

yes wwhisky, that would be the method required.. which I kinda liked -- have to protect newly taken base. now that waffle says ack is going in, I guess it wont be necessary...

So we're back to having European architecture for maps inspired by the PTO (NDIsles, Mindnao, the various historical maps).

Would like to see some rice paper villages for the PTO maps.  I've just completed the installation of bat bombs on my B-29.  :D

Wow, you guys even modeled The Bureau of Aerial Defense, zoning request forms, a town council, and construction units! I'm downright impressed!

In case you were wondering about the street names, I've mapped it all out below.  My personal favorite is "Ruelfore" with "Market" as a close second.

I also found what I believe to be a 'strip club'... It's a blurry sign but I would swear it's a naked lady!

I also noticed that when a building is destroyed, you can see the walls collapsed inside, many of which have pictures still hanging on them!  It's pretty incredible!  I can't wait to run into some GV battles in these towns...

As a hardcore base-taker,I really do like the new towns. All of the changes will require learning new tactics,( which I am sure HTC wanted as well as freshening it up a bit).

And I am assuming, other than the town being different, that the time for town down has stayed the same??

Really good job on everything guys.. :salute

They seem to gun down about the same.  In a T34-76 with HE rounds, two rounds takes down a building.  They "SEEM" harder because of the fact that they way they are spaced out more, that "splash damage" from HE and bombs don't seem to affect nearby buildings like it did in the old town, but I don't think they are.

In the old town, you could hit a building twice with HE and take it down.  Then you hit the building next to it and it may only take one round... or you may kill two buildings at once...  that doesn't seem to be the case so much now because the buildings are further apart.

Yes it makes things harder, but I like it!

NOTE:  Ahhh.. splash damage... that terminology makes me thing of Starcraft... oh those were the days... they should make a secon... err.. what?  They did?  Good thing I pre-ordered!  I'm giddy now!

OBJ hardness has not changed.  It still takes 312 points of dmg to take down a building, bunker, radar, etc.
