Title: AGP or PCI for graphic card?

I have to claim ignorance between the difference Interface Slot Type AGP or PCI. Can someone please explain & how can i tell which is available on my computer. Also looking for new graphics card to see if it improves FR. Would like to spend about $100 or so, any suggestions?

If possible, use AGP card.

PCI slots are white and ISA slots (well, one ISA slot) are black.

Take a close look into AGP and PCI slots, both ones has different type of slot.
Motherboards usually (if not always) has one AGP slot, while theres bunch of PCI/ISA slots.

Other way is to visit at your motherboard producers web site and look up your motherboard specifications.

You can also go into your BIOS and find something connected to AGP term. (your computer prompts in the begining of startup if you want to go in the BIOS setup and tells key / key combination to it)

If you have a pentium 2, celeron, pentium 3, duron, k6-2, athlon, or k6-3 system it is a pretty safe bet that you have an agp slot.  If you have it, it is superior to a PCI slot, so use it.

You can crack open the case to know for sure.  An AGP slot will not be white in color, but will be near some white slots.  It will be slightly shorter, and it will begin closer to the center of the board.  (Look at Fishu's picture.)

As a K6-2 User, I recomend caution in using AGP.
There are a few Socket7 Motherboards that don't work to well with AGP.
I had an AGP Voodoo3 for 2 days and had lots of trouble. When I called the local dealer where I bought it, he said OH...your problem is easily fixed...he exchanged it for a PCI and bingo!
BTW, I am running an ASUS P5AB motherboard.
