However in all my years flying these games, I never felt as bugged eyed as I did tonight when I logged. The blown bldgs look too much like undamaged ones on my end. Dont think ill be doing much town stuff in the future.

Same here, flew over a town 3 times because I couldn't tell if they were down or not.

The towns, and bases, look fantastic! I just drove an Lvt into a town for the first time with troops. It was awesome navigating the roads, hedge rows, and hills trying to find my way. I was lost at first until a squadie told me to look for road signs. Sure enough HoEr street.... then a sign "HQ -->......
Once I found my way, I wanted confirmation the town was down. It took about 3 minutes with 4 plus planes buzzing around to ensure it was down. I'm certain that will be easier once we all learn the layout better, but it was manageable and a ton of fun!

Now was that take a left at Stab me Lane or....... :D

The town does look cool. It's more realistic but also harder to take down (maybe a good thing). Although not being able to tell from the air if buildings are down may not be a good thing.

Does anyone know if hi-res pack needs to be re-downloaded?
<argh, never mind, I can see that 85 meg on dialup will be a start it and go to bed deal>

Very disappointing...
I managed to stick my head through the door of the ho-house, and there was nothing in there but sky ... :cry
{grin}

Now how could you do that, just mark buildings to remember as you go on each different road.
And if you still get lost, just take an airplane next time :D.

so... people are afraid of learning new things as well as not liking learning curves? Hmm. :headscratch:
So how did you guys do it when you first started playing AH?
Fellas... please start finding real things to be concerned with. ;)

Fire, black smoke, grey smoke, and white smoke would help determine what's down and how long it's been down.

Careful what you wish for, if they implemented that you'd be right back here saying that the smoke is blocking your ability to see if buildings are up or not.

Or that your computer is laggy as hell.

Id just like some glowing coals in the blown houses. I just cant tell if they are wrecked or not. Thats flying slow directly over them. Its not about "learning" something, its just tuff to see the difference.
-
If its that hard to tell if the houses are down, just add small flames to each building that's destroyed, problem is it may put lots of lag on any older computer.
I've found that the smaller a smoke flame is, the easier it is for the PC to handle it, i honestly think this would be a great idea for the town, also AA guns, you'd be able to tell whats down and whats not, making your first attack run much more safe then it would be going in with just a guess.
First hit on a town building (Fire black smoke), been down for i don't know few minutes (Fire grey smoke), just as its about to pull up again (Fire no smoke).
No need for huge massive fire and smoke ! just small and simple, i can really tell this would work great.
Things that cause lag from smoke are the thickness of it, and how huge it is, same with flames and fire, cut the smoke thickness and the fire thickness and all should be well.

Nice job on the towns ! :aok even though it doe's make my FR drop .
